TOPIC: TALKING TO GOD

TEXT: LUKE 11:2-10

2And he said unto them, When ye pray, say, Our Father which art in heaven, Hallowed be thy name. Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done, as in heaven, so in earth.

3Give us day by day our daily bread.

4And forgive us our sins; for we also forgive every one that is indebted to us. And lead us not into temptation; but deliver us from evil.

5And he said unto them, Which of you shall have a friend, and shall go unto him at midnight, and say unto him, Friend, lend me three loaves;

6For a friend of mine in his journey is come to me, and I have nothing to set before him?

7And he from within shall answer and say, Trouble me not: the door is now shut, and my children are with me in bed; I cannot rise and give thee.

8I say unto you, Though he will not rise and give him, because he is his friend, yet because of his importunity he will rise and give him as many as he needeth.

9And I say unto you, Ask, and it shall be given you; seek, and ye shall find; knock, and it shall be opened unto you.

10For every one that asketh receiveth; and he that seeketh findeth; and to him that knocketh it shall be opened.

Key Verse: “And I say unto you, Ask, and it shall be given you; seek, and ye shall find; knock, and it shall be opened unto you” (Luke 11:9).

MESSAGE:

Ben and Ken were friends and loved to talk with one another. Although they were not twins, the pupils in their class called them twins, just because they so much enjoyed talking with each other. Just like Ben and Ken, children who are friends of Jesus must love and enjoy talking to God in prayers.

If you desire victory over temptations and Satan, you must pray. If you want to be all that God wants you to be, then you must spend some time talking to God in prayers every day. You should not be like children who pray only when there are problems.

Although it is good to pray when there are problems, it is not good to wait until problems come before we pray. Jesus says, “When ye pray…” and not “If you pray.” This means that prayer is an important assignment that must be done. It is not an option.

We should pray for peace in our country and wisdom for our leaders. Prayer should be made for sinful boys and girls to become friends of Jesus. You should pray for your parents, siblings, friends and pray for yourself too. Are you ready to talk to God in prayer? If yes, then, Jesus is waiting to answer your prayers.

Prayer: Heavenly Father, please give me the desire to pray. Help me to always pray to You every day.

GOSPEL REALM: STEPS TO SALVATION
1. Admit that you are a sinner. "For all [humans] have sinned, and comes short of the glory of God....[and] the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord" (Romans 3:23)
2. Repent now. "Repent ye therefore, and be converted, that your sins may be blotted out ...[for] if we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness " (Acts 3:19, 1 John 1:9)
3. Believe that God loves you and Jesus died for you. "God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet Sinners, Christ died for us" (Romans 5:8)
4. Invite Jesus into your life through prayer of faith. Jesus says, "Behold, I stand at the door, and knock: if any man hear my voice, and open the door, I will come in to him, and will sup with him, and he with me" (Revelation 3:20)
