DCLM Sincere Milk 2 October 2022 Devotional by Pastor W. F. Kumuyi — Pay attention to details

TOPIC: PAY ATTENTION TO DETAILS

TEXT: EXODUS 40:14-18

14And thou shalt bring his sons, and clothe them with coats:

15And thou shalt anoint them, as thou didst anoint their father, that they may minister unto me in the priest’s office: for their anointing shall surely be an everlasting priesthood throughout their generations.

16Thus did Moses: according to all that the LORD commanded him, so did he.

17And it came to pass in the first month in the second year, on the first day of the month, that the tabernacle was reared up.

18And Moses reared up the tabernacle, and fastened his sockets, and set up the boards thereof, and put in the bars thereof, and reared up his pillars.

Key Verse: “Thus did Moses: according to all that the LORD commanded him, so did he” (Exodus 40:16).

MESSAGE:
Paying attention to details means the ability to do every bit of an assignment in a perfect way. In life, some activities require us to give careful consideration to them. There are some works or professions that careless and impatient people are advised not to do.

For example, medical profession requires a great deal of patience and attention in every area, otherwise, there could be loss of life. In our relationship with God, we are expected to diligently observe all that God commands us and obey them.

God hates disobedience or partial obedience. He gave many instructions to Moses on how to build the tabernacle. Moses did not miss out any of the details, but followed them fully and completely. Every child of God is to follow this wonderful example.

In order to make it easy to obey all the instructions from God, you are advised to always have your Bible and writing materials like exercise book and pen/biro with you. This will enable you to write God’s instructions during personal devotion or fellowship time so that you can read them from time to time and find it easy to obey. You should also pay attention to your school work to have good success.

Do not only rely on what you have stored up in your brain, create room to learn more. Be attentive when you are in church or school, and avoid distractions. Do not be careless with the things of God, your academics and other matters of life.

Prayer: O Lord, help me to pay attention to Your word and make me obedient to You always.

GOSPEL REALM: STEPS TO SALVATION
1. Admit that you are a sinner. "For all [humans] have sinned, and comes short of the glory of God....[and] the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord" (Romans 3:23)
2. Repent now. "Repent ye therefore, and be converted, that your sins may be blotted out ...[for] if we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness " (Acts 3:19, 1 John 1:9)
3. Believe that God loves you and Jesus died for you. "God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet Sinners, Christ died for us" (Romans 5:8)
4. Invite Jesus into your life through prayer of faith. Jesus says, "Behold, I stand at the door, and knock: if any man hear my voice, and open the door, I will come in to him, and will sup with him, and he with me" (Revelation 3:20)
