DCLM Higher Everyday 26 May 2023 — Pen It Down Immediately

DCLM Higher Everyday 26 May 2023 Devotional by Pastor W. F. Kumuyi — Pen It Down Immediately

Topic: Pen It Down Immediately

Text: Habakkuk 2:1-3

1I will stand upon my watch, and set me upon the tower, and will watch to see what he will say unto me, and what I shall answer when I am reproved.

2And the LORD answered me, and said, Write the vision, and make it plain upon tables, that he may run that readeth it.

3For the vision is yet for an appointed time, but at the end it shall speak, and not lie: though it tarry, wait for it; because it will surely come, it will not tarry.

Key Verse: “And the Lord answered me, and said, write the vision, and make it plain upon tables, that he may run that readeth it” (Habakkuk 2:2).

Message

An old Chinese proverb says that, “The faintest ink is more powerful than the strongest memory.” This literally means that it is easy to forget what is not written down. Therefore, write down what you think is important and never to over-estimate your memory because your memory is prone to forget things as time passes. Our text emphasizes the importance of note-taking as God Himself instructed Habakkuk to write down the vision He had revealed to him. A youth should arm him/herself with pen and paper while reading God’s word so that he/she can pen down any striking passage, especially during ‘quiet time.’ Likewise, youths should cultivate the habit of note-taking during classes and reading sessions.

You are not too young to have a diary to be recording important events. You are to jot down messages in the church and write notes at school for reference purposes. The Bible you are reading today would have been non-existent had the writers of the books of the Bible not written down the revelations they received from God.

Quote: Cultivate the habit of note-taking

Challenge: Always put pen to paper.

Prayer for today: Lord, take away from me laziness in jotting down notes.

GOSPEL REALM: STEPS TO SALVATION
1. Admit that you are a sinner. "For all [humans] have sinned, and comes short of the glory of God....[and] the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord" (Romans 3:23)
2. Repent now. "Repent ye therefore, and be converted, that your sins may be blotted out ...[for] if we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness " (Acts 3:19, 1 John 1:9)
3. Believe that God loves you and Jesus died for you. "God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet Sinners, Christ died for us" (Romans 5:8)
4. Invite Jesus into your life through prayer of faith. Jesus says, "Behold, I stand at the door, and knock: if any man hear my voice, and open the door, I will come in to him, and will sup with him, and he with me" (Revelation 3:20)
