DCLM Higher Everyday 17 June 2026 — Penalty For Promiscuity

DCLM Higher Everyday  17 June 2026 Devotional by Pastor W. F. Kumuyi — Penalty For Promiscuity

Topic: Penalty For Promiscuity

Bible Reading: Proverbs 6:20-33 (KJV)

20My son, keep thy father’s commandment, and forsake not the law of thy mother:

21Bind them continually upon thine heart, and tie them about thy neck.

22When thou goest, it shall lead thee; when thou sleepest, it shall keep thee; and when thou awakest, it shall talk with thee.

23For the commandment is a lamp; and the law is light; and reproofs of instruction are the way of life:

24To keep thee from the evil woman, from the flattery of the tongue of a strange woman.

25Lust not after her beauty in thine heart; neither let her take thee with her eyelids.

26For by means of a whorish woman a man is brought to a piece of bread: and the adulteress will hunt for the precious life.

27Can a man take fire in his bosom, and his clothes not be burned?

28Can one go upon hot coals, and his feet not be burned?

29So he that goeth in to his neighbour’s wife; whosoever toucheth her shall not be innocent.

30Men do not despise a thief, if he steal to satisfy his soul when he is hungry;

31But if he be found, he shall restore sevenfold; he shall give all the substance of his house.

32But whoso committeth adultery with a woman lacketh understanding: he that doeth it destroyeth his own soul.

33A wound and dishonour shall he get; and his reproach shall not be wiped away.

KEY VERSE: To keep thee from the evil woman, from the flattery of the tongue of a strange woman” (Proverbs 6:24)

Message

Eskimos have a special way of catching and killing wolves. They coat their knives with animal blood and allow them to freeze. They then add layer after layer of blood until the blades are completely concealed by the frozen blood. Thereafter, the hunters fix those knives in the ground with the blades up. When a wolf traces the scent and discovers the bait, he licks it, tasting the fresh frozen blood. He begins to lick faster, more and more vigorously, lapping the blade until the keen edge of the knife is bare. His craving for blood becomes so great that the wolf does not notice the razor-sharp sting of the blade on its own tongue. The wolf does not know when its insatiable thirst is being satisfied by its own blood, and eventually dies!

Like the wolf, many youths are promiscuous, thinking that there is no penalty for immorality. To them, it is pleasurable and seems safe, but it is risky. Don’t kill yourself like the wolf. Stay away from promiscuity or immorality. Satan flaunts the pleasure of sin, hiding the repercussions, which are grave.

PRAYER FOR TODAY

My God, keep me away from promiscuity in Jesus’ name.

CHALLENGE

Consider the price tag on your sinful act.

GOSPEL REALM: STEPS TO SALVATION
1. Admit that you are a sinner. "For all [humans] have sinned, and comes short of the glory of God....[and] the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord" (Romans 3:23)
2. Repent now. "Repent ye therefore, and be converted, that your sins may be blotted out ...[for] if we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness " (Acts 3:19, 1 John 1:9)
3. Believe that God loves you and Jesus died for you. "God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet Sinners, Christ died for us" (Romans 5:8)
4. Invite Jesus into your life through prayer of faith. Jesus says, "Behold, I stand at the door, and knock: if any man hear my voice, and open the door, I will come in to him, and will sup with him, and he with me" (Revelation 3:20)
