DCLM Higher Everyday 7 August 2025 — Please God: Enoch Did
DCLM Higher Everyday 7 August 2025 Devotional by Pastor W. F. Kumuyi — Please God: Enoch Did
Topic: Please God: Enoch Did
Text: Hebrews 11 : 1-5
1Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen.
2For by it the elders obtained a good report.
3Through faith we understand that the worlds were framed by the word of God, so that things which are seen were not made of things which do appear.
4By faith Abel offered unto God a more excellent sacrifice than Cain, by which he obtained witness that he was righteous, God testifying of his gifts: and by it he being dead yet speaketh.
5By faith Enoch was translated that he should not see death; and was not found, because God had translated him: for before his translation he had this testimony, that he pleased God.
Key Verse: “By faith Enoch was translated that he should not see death; and was not found, because God had translated him: for before his translation he had this testimony, that he pleased God” (Hebrews11:5).
Message
Everyone desires to live a purpose-driven life. The primary purpose for which God created man is for him to please God. Pleasing God, therefore, means to constantly be at the centre of the will of God. Marilyn Baker expressed the mind of God for all children when she sang, “I love you my children and I want you to be a radiant reflection, a living image of me.” Thus, to please God implies to be a living image of God. When you reflect the holiness and righteousness of God, He is very happy and pleased with you.

In spite of the terrible corrupt generation in his time, Brother Enoch still was determined and diligent about pleasing God. He obtained sufficient grace from God and consistently pleased God for 300 years before God took him alive to heaven – he never died. God’s expectation of every boy and girl today is to please Him. You can please God in your life time if you reconcile with Him and live a life of holiness. Receive the grace to please God in Jesus’ name.
Quote: Brother Enoch was still determined
Challenge: Be diligent about pleasing God.
Prayer for today: Lord Jesus, give me the grace to please you at all times.
1. Admit that you are a sinner. "For all [humans] have sinned, and comes short of the glory of God....[and] the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord" (Romans 3:23)
2. Repent now. "Repent ye therefore, and be converted, that your sins may be blotted out ...[for] if we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness " (Acts 3:19, 1 John 1:9)
3. Believe that God loves you and Jesus died for you. "God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet Sinners, Christ died for us" (Romans 5:8)
4. Invite Jesus into your life through prayer of faith. Jesus says, "Behold, I stand at the door, and knock: if any man hear my voice, and open the door, I will come in to him, and will sup with him, and he with me" (Revelation 3:20)
