TOPIC: PRAYING FOR ALL PEOPLE

TEXT: 1 TIMOTHY 2:1-4

1I exhort therefore, that, first of all, supplications, prayers, intercessions, and giving of thanks, be made for all men;

2For kings, and for all that are in authority; that we may lead a quiet and peaceable life in all godliness and honesty.

3For this is good and acceptable in the sight of God our Saviour;

4Who will have all men to be saved, and to come unto the knowledge of the truth.

MEMORY VERSE: “I exhort therefore, that, first of all, supplications, prayers, intercessions, and giving of thanks, be made for all men” (1 TIMOTHY 2:1).

MESSAGE:

Biblical experience shows that people always live in peace and prosperity when the saints rise and pray for their nation. This explains why the children of Israel always enjoyed prosperity and adequate security under the leadership of their prophets or the kings, whenever they cried to God. No wonder King David enjoined his people to “Pray for the peace of Jerusalem…”

The Bible text is an admonition from one of the great intercessors that ever lived – Apostle Paul. Like David, see intercession as a duty of believers for all – saints and sinners, leaders and followers, and the young and old – as the key to peaceful coexistence, progress and prosperity in every society.

The judgment of God is hovering over every society in the world because of heinous sins. God is looking for saints to stand in the gap. If you are one, He needs your service as an intercessor for all in your community. Abraham interceded for Sodom and Gomorrah while Apostle Paul interceded for his kinsmen, the Israelites. As you pray, give thanks to God for His faithfulness.

QUOTE: Saints to stand in the gap.

CHALLENGE: Prayer is the solution to the problems in all nations.

PRAYER: Grant me the spirit of intercession, O Lord.

GOSPEL REALM: STEPS TO SALVATION
1. Admit that you are a sinner. "For all [humans] have sinned, and comes short of the glory of God....[and] the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord" (Romans 3:23)
2. Repent now. "Repent ye therefore, and be converted, that your sins may be blotted out ...[for] if we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness " (Acts 3:19, 1 John 1:9)
3. Believe that God loves you and Jesus died for you. "God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet Sinners, Christ died for us" (Romans 5:8)
4. Invite Jesus into your life through prayer of faith. Jesus says, "Behold, I stand at the door, and knock: if any man hear my voice, and open the door, I will come in to him, and will sup with him, and he with me" (Revelation 3:20)
