TOPIC: PUT OFF AND PUT ON
BIBLE TEXT: EPHESIANS 4:21-25
21If so be that ye have heard him, and have been taught by him, as the truth is in Jesus:
22That ye put off concerning the former conversation the old man, which is corrupt according to the deceitful lusts;
23And be renewed in the spirit of your mind;
24And that ye put on the new man, which after God is created in righteousness and true holiness.
25Wherefore putting away lying, speak every man truth with his neighbour: for we are members one of another.
KEY VERSE: “And that ye put on the new man, which after God is created in righteousness and true holiness” (Ephesians 4:24).
MESSAGE:
As you grow, some of your clothes become too short or too tight for you. You outgrow old clothes and there is need to get new ones. Generally, the need to move from old to new arises in every area of our lives. Can you imagine yourself remaining in one class since you gained admission to school five years ago? God forbid, you say. How then are some children comfortable remaining in the same lifestyle of the old life since they started attending church?

The characteristics of the old life is corrupt and deceitful. It manifests itself in lying, stealing, speaking corrupt and dirty language, bitterness, wrath, anger, and evil speaking. These are the marks of the old life of sin. But you need to move to the new class by putting off the old lifestyle of sin and putting on the new man.
When you move from an old school to a new school, you must wear a new uniform. The old lifestyle of lying and fighting is old school. You must put it off and put on the new life. *The characteristics of the new life includes truthfulness, honesty, holy living, righteousness, love, humility and total freedom from wrong doings. Jesus purchased the new cloth of righteousness for you at Calvary. Wear the new garment today and be ready for the marriage supper of the Lamb. Remember, you cannot wear the old cloth to the marriage supper of the Lamb.
PRAYER: Lord I surrender my heart unto You, make me a new creature.

4. Invite Jesus into your life through prayer of faith. Jesus says, "Behold, I stand at the door, and knock: if any man hear my voice, and open the door, I will come in to him, and will sup with him, and he with me" (Revelation 3:20)
