DCLM Higher Everyday 17 July 2026 — Remaining Spiritually Relevant

DCLM Higher Everyday  17 July 2026 Devotional by Pastor W. F. Kumuyi — Remaining Spiritually Relevant

Topic: Remaining Spiritually Relevant

Bible Reading: 1 Timothy 4:12-16 (KJV)

12Let no man despise thy youth; but be thou an example of the believers, in word, in conversation, in charity, in spirit, in faith, in purity.

13Till I come, give attendance to reading, to exhortation, to doctrine.

14Neglect not the gift that is in thee, which was given thee by prophecy, with the laying on of the hands of the presbytery.

15Meditate upon these things; give thyself wholly to them; that thy profiting may appear to all.

16Take heed unto thyself, and unto the doctrine; continue in them: for in doing this thou shalt both save thyself, and them that hear thee.

KEY VERSE: Let no man despise thy youth; but be thou an example of believers, in word, in conversation, in charity, in spirit, in faith, in purity” (1 Timothy 4:12).

Message

To remain spiritually relevant is very important. Having been born again and backsliding eventually is a sad commentary. Most saints of old served God well and finished strong. Joshua for example, was a young man who served God under Moses. He was hard working and faithful. When Moses died, leadership responsibility was transferred to him, he served Israel well till he died at the age of 110. On his leadership impact, the Bible records this about him: “And Israel served the LORD all the days of Joshua, and all the days of the elders that overlived Joshua…” (Joshua 24:31) Joshua was spiritually relevant from his youth to old age and even after death. Being spiritually relevant is not about being popular in the Church. It means to be committed to God, and living an impactful life for His kingdom.

Beloved, maintain your spiritual experiences. Also be devoted to God by having regular and meaningful quiet time, evangelising and reading, meditating and applying the word of God in your life. Moreover, maintain regular fellowship with the believers (Acts 2:42).

PRAYER FOR TODAY

Lord, keep me spiritually relevant in Jesus’ name.

CHALLENGE

Remain in the faith and impact lives for Christ.

GOSPEL REALM: STEPS TO SALVATION
1. Admit that you are a sinner. "For all [humans] have sinned, and comes short of the glory of God....[and] the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord" (Romans 3:23)
2. Repent now. "Repent ye therefore, and be converted, that your sins may be blotted out ...[for] if we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness " (Acts 3:19, 1 John 1:9)
3. Believe that God loves you and Jesus died for you. "God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet Sinners, Christ died for us" (Romans 5:8)
4. Invite Jesus into your life through prayer of faith. Jesus says, "Behold, I stand at the door, and knock: if any man hear my voice, and open the door, I will come in to him, and will sup with him, and he with me" (Revelation 3:20)
