DCLM Higher Everyday 19 July 2026 — Reproof For Foolishness

DCLM Higher Everyday  19 July 2026 Devotional by Pastor W. F. Kumuyi — Reproof For Foolishness

Topic: Reproof For Foolishness

Bible Reading: Galatians 3:1-5 (KJV)

1O foolish Galatians, who hath bewitched you, that ye should not obey the truth, before whose eyes Jesus Christ hath been evidently set forth, crucified among you?

2This only would I learn of you, Received ye the Spirit by the works of the law, or by the hearing of faith?

3Are ye so foolish? having begun in the Spirit, are ye now made perfect by the flesh?

4Have ye suffered so many things in vain? if it be yet in vain.

5He therefore that ministereth to you the Spirit, and worketh miracles among you, doeth he it by the works of the law, or by the hearing of faith?

KEY VERSE: Are ye so foolish? having begun in the Spirit, are ye now made perfect by the flesh” (Galatians 3:3)

Message

When people are erring, there are a number of ways of correcting them. It could be by advice, counselling, rebuke or reproof. Parents are even urged to smite or cane a stubborn child to “drive” foolishness out of him or her. Some people take the correction in good faith and change while others would remain obdurate. In our study today, Apostle Paul used reproof on the Galatians who had been deceived by the over-zealous Jewish Christians saying, “O foolish Galatians, who hath bewitched you that ye should not obey the truth…?” The Galatians had been made to believe that they needed to add works to their faith by keeping the Old Testament laws, particularly the circumcision of the flesh, in order to be justified. Paul reminded them that they had received the Spirit by faith, not by works.

Beloved, beware of erroneous doctrines peddled through books, the social media and the internet. Many youths have lost their faith by these means. As a Christian, beware of the company you keep, so that you are not also deceived like the Galatian believers.

PRAYER FOR TODAY

Holy Father, help me to walk by faith, not by sight in Jesus’ name.

CHALLENGE

Do not mix faith with traditions of men.

GOSPEL REALM: STEPS TO SALVATION
1. Admit that you are a sinner. "For all [humans] have sinned, and comes short of the glory of God....[and] the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord" (Romans 3:23)
2. Repent now. "Repent ye therefore, and be converted, that your sins may be blotted out ...[for] if we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness " (Acts 3:19, 1 John 1:9)
3. Believe that God loves you and Jesus died for you. "God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet Sinners, Christ died for us" (Romans 5:8)
4. Invite Jesus into your life through prayer of faith. Jesus says, "Behold, I stand at the door, and knock: if any man hear my voice, and open the door, I will come in to him, and will sup with him, and he with me" (Revelation 3:20)
