TOPIC: Resist The Devil [Open Heaven for Teens 30 January 2022]

MEMORISE: Submit yourselves therefore to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you. James 4:7

READ: Ephesians 6:11-18

11 Put on the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil.

12 For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places.

13 Wherefore take unto you the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand.

14 Stand therefore, having your loins girt about with truth, and having on the breastplate of righteousness;

15 And your feet shod with the preparation of the gospel of peace;

16 Above all, taking the shield of faith, wherewith ye shall be able to quench all the fiery darts of the wicked.

17 And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God:

18 Praying always with all prayer and supplication in the Spirit, and watching thereunto with all perseverance and supplication for all saints;

BIBLE IN ONE YEAR: Matthew 20:17-34; Exodus 22-24

MESSAGE:

After I gave my life to Christ, I didn’t visit my hometown for thirteen years for fear of being killed by witches and wizards, until I got a revelation in God’s word that Jesus said all power in heaven and on earth belongs to Him. That was my deliverance. Today, whenever I want to visit my hometown, I inform them months ahead so they can plan any of their gimmicks. By the time I get there to preach the gospel, they surrender to Jesus.

These days unfortunately, movies and series, especially the horror ones, have portrayed the devil as a very powerful being. This mindset has eroded his true state in the lives of many believers. The devil is neither God’s vice nor second-in-command! As a true child of God, you are more powerful than the enemy because the same power that raised Jesus from death is at work in you! You have the power to resist the devil because God has given you authority over him, his demons and their schemes. The devil is not to be feared, tolerated, accommodated, served, loved, advertised or associated with: he is very cunning and will do all it takes to bring a believer down, therefore, you must always be alert and constantly resist him in your thoughts, words, dreams and even physically. You will overcome the enemy in Jesus’ name. Amen.

PRAYER POINT:

Father, please strengthen me to always resist the devil and overcome.

HYMN: STAND UP! STAND UP FOR JESUS

  1. Stand up! stand up for Jesus,
    Ye soldiers of the Cross!
    Lift high His royal banner;
    It must not suffer loss.
    From vict’ry unto vict’ry
    His army shall He lead,
    Till every foe is vanquished,
    And Christ is Lord indeed.
  2. Stand up! stand up for Jesus,
    The trumpet call obey;
    Forth to the mighty conllict,
    In this His glorious day;
    Ye that are men now serve Him
    Against unnumbered foes;
    Let courage rise with danger,
    And strength to strength oppose.
  3. Stand up! stand up for Jesus!
    Stand in His strength alone;
    The arm of Ilesh will fail you,
    Ye dare not trust your own:
    Put on the gospel armour;
    And watching unto prayer;
    Where duty calls, or danger,
    Be never wanting there.
  4. Stand up! stand up for Jesus!
    The strife will not be long;
    This day the noise of battle,
    The next the victor’s song;
    To him that overcometh,
    A crown of life shall be;
    He with the King of glory
    Shall reign eternally.

GOSPEL REALM: STEPS TO SALVATION
1. Admit that you are a sinner. "For all [humans] have sinned, and comes short of the glory of God....[and] the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord" (Romans 3:23)
2. Repent now. "Repent ye therefore, and be converted, that your sins may be blotted out ...[for] if we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness " (Acts 3:19, 1 John 1:9)
3. Believe that God loves you and Jesus died for you. "God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet Sinners, Christ died for us" (Romans 5:8)
4. Invite Jesus into your life through prayer of faith. Jesus says, "Behold, I stand at the door, and knock: if any man hear my voice, and open the door, I will come in to him, and will sup with him, and he with me" (Revelation 3:20)
