TOPIC: SAINTS DO NOT SIN!

TEXT: 1 JOHN 5:18-21

18 We know that whosoever is born of God sinneth not; but he that is begotten of God keepeth himself, and that wicked one toucheth him not.

19 And we know that we are of God, and the whole world lieth in wickedness.

20 And we know that the Son of God is come, and hath given us an understanding, that we may know him that is true, and we are in him that is true, even in his Son Jesus Christ. This is the true God, and eternal life.

21 Little children, keep yourselves from idols. Amen.

MEMORY VERSE: “We know that whosoever is born of God sinneth not; but he that is begotten of God keepeth himself, and that wicked one toucheth him not” (1 JOHN 5:18).

MESSAGE

“Sinning saint,” what a contradiction! There are many so-called born-again youths who still live in sin with the belief that no man can be a saint while on earth.

But the passage above reveals that a true child of God is called out of the world of sin and does not commit sin. He has been made a new creature in Christ; the old lifestyle of sin is gone. The indisputable evidence of being a child of God is freedom from sin because God imparts His own nature to him or her.

God has produced a good number of saints both in Bible times and in our contemporary times – people like Enoch, Joseph, Elizabeth, Mary, Paul and a host of others.

It is the will of God for us to live an overcoming life over sin. Hence, He gave us great and precious promises that we might be partakers of His divine nature.

God still gives power and grace today to those who seek Him, for He says, “Blessed are they which do hunger and thirst after righteousness: for they shall be filled.”

QUOTE: God imparts His own nature.

CHALLENGE: Enoch pleased God; you can too!

PRAYER: Lord, stamp Your own image on me.

GOSPEL REALM: STEPS TO SALVATION
1. Admit that you are a sinner. "For all [humans] have sinned, and comes short of the glory of God....[and] the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord" (Romans 3:23)
2. Repent now. "Repent ye therefore, and be converted, that your sins may be blotted out ...[for] if we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness " (Acts 3:19, 1 John 1:9)
3. Believe that God loves you and Jesus died for you. "God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet Sinners, Christ died for us" (Romans 5:8)
4. Invite Jesus into your life through prayer of faith. Jesus says, "Behold, I stand at the door, and knock: if any man hear my voice, and open the door, I will come in to him, and will sup with him, and he with me" (Revelation 3:20)
