TOPIC: SEE GOD IN EVERY SITUATION
TEXT: JOHN 9:1-7
1 And as Jesus passed by, he saw a man which was blind from his birth.
2 And his disciples asked him, saying, Master, who did sin, this man, or his parents, that he was born blind?
3 Jesus answered, Neither hath this man sinned, nor his parents: but that the works of God should be made manifest in him.
4 I must work the works of him that sent me, while it is day: the night cometh, when no man can work.
5 As long as I am in the world, I am the light of the world.
6 When he had thus spoken, he spat on the ground, and made clay of the spittle, and he anointed the eyes of the blind man with the clay,
7 And said unto him, Go, wash in the pool of Siloam, (which is by interpretation, Sent.) He went his way therefore, and washed, and came seeing.
Key Verse: “Jesus answered, Neither hath this man sinned, nor his parents: but that the works of God should be made manifest in him” (John 9:3).
MESSAGE:
The world we are living in is full of troubles and challenges. Satan, our main enemy is the one in control of this sinful world.
The friends of Jesus are also having their share of troubles and difficulties in the world, but we are not to be disturbed because, unlike unbelievers, the friends of Jesus have God’s presence, promises and provisions in times of trouble. Believers should develop the attitude of seeing God’s presence, power, promises and provisions in challenging and difficult situations.
In our Bible passage, Jesus Christ and His disciples saw a man that was born blind. While Jesus showed compassion towards the man, His disciples lacked clear understanding of the situation. This they acted out in the question they asked Jesus in verse 2 “And his disciples asked him, saying, Master, who did sin, this man, or his parents, that he was born blind?”
The disciples’ physical and ordinary eyes saw a problem, but Jesus saw in the problem of blindness a great opportunity to show God’s glory in the man’s life. What do you see and how do you see it? The way we react to a situation can go a long way to help find solution to such a problem.
Christian boys and girls should learn the right attitude/response to challenges, do not fear but have faith in God for solutions. See God in all your life challenges. No trouble can harm or swallow you when you remain in the hands of God.
Prayer: O God, help me to look up and trust You in times of trouble.
Further Reading: Isaiah 41:10-14
1. Admit that you are a sinner. "For all [humans] have sinned, and comes short of the glory of God....[and] the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord" (Romans 3:23)
2. Repent now. "Repent ye therefore, and be converted, that your sins may be blotted out ...[for] if we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness " (Acts 3:19, 1 John 1:9)
3. Believe that God loves you and Jesus died for you. "God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet Sinners, Christ died for us" (Romans 5:8)
4. Invite Jesus into your life through prayer of faith. Jesus says, "Behold, I stand at the door, and knock: if any man hear my voice, and open the door, I will come in to him, and will sup with him, and he with me" (Revelation 3:20)
