DCLM Sincere Milk 28 May 2026 Devotional by Pastor W. F. Kumuyi — Sight Without Insight
Topic: Sight Without Insight
Bible Reading: 2 Kings 6:8-17(KJV)
8Then the king of Syria warred against Israel, and took counsel with his servants, saying, In such and such a place shall be my camp.
10And the king of Israel sent to the place which the man of God told him and warned him of, and saved himself there, not once nor twice.
11Therefore the heart of the king of Syria was sore troubled for this thing; and he called his servants, and said unto them, Will ye not shew me which of us is for the king of Israel?
12And one of his servants said, None, my lord, O king: but Elisha, the prophet that is in Israel, telleth the king of Israel the words that thou speakest in thy bedchamber.
13And he said, Go and spy where he is, that I may send and fetch him. And it was told him, saying, Behold, he is in Dothan.
14Therefore sent he thither horses, and chariots, and a great host: and they came by night, and compassed the city about.
15And when the servant of the man of God was risen early, and gone forth, behold, an host compassed the city both with horses and chariots. And his servant said unto him, Alas, my master! how shall we do?
16And he answered, Fear not: for they that be with us are more than they that be with them.
17And Elisha prayed, and said, LORD, I pray thee, open his eyes, that he may see. And the LORD opened the eyes of the young man; and he saw: and, behold, the mountain was full of horses and chariots of fire round about Elisha.
KEY VERSE: “And Elisha prayed, and said, LORD, I pray thee, open his eyes, that he may see.” 2 Kings 6:17a
Message
Not all eyes that are widely open and clear do see. So many blind people have eyes that mere looking at it, you will think such eyes have great sight but alas the sense of sight is absent. The servant of prophet Elisha was not a blind man; he had a very good physical sight. And being a servant to such a great prophet, he ought to have a clear insight also. But behold he could not see beyond the physical. His master had to pray that God should open his spiritual eyes.
As a friend of Jesus, if your spiritual understanding (insight) is not enlightened; you will live in fear and frustration just like the servant of the prophet. You may be at the mercy of your enemies and to be a conqueror in life will be very difficult. Daniel 11:32b says “but the people that do know their God shall be strong, and do exploits.” Don’t be like Elisha’s servant who though was very close to the prophet, remained a baby in spiritual matters. Be a Samuel who though was a child, he could hear God speak when Eli the prophet lost the privilege because of sin. Another touch from Jesus our Master can turn things around in your life!
Dear Lord, please open my eyes today that I may see.
Mark 8:22-25
1. Admit that you are a sinner. "For all [humans] have sinned, and comes short of the glory of God....[and] the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord" (Romans 3:23)
2. Repent now. "Repent ye therefore, and be converted, that your sins may be blotted out ...[for] if we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness " (Acts 3:19, 1 John 1:9)
3. Believe that God loves you and Jesus died for you. "God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet Sinners, Christ died for us" (Romans 5:8)
4. Invite Jesus into your life through prayer of faith. Jesus says, "Behold, I stand at the door, and knock: if any man hear my voice, and open the door, I will come in to him, and will sup with him, and he with me" (Revelation 3:20)
