DCLM Sincere Milk 11 November 2022 — Sin: Red like crimson

DCLM Sincere Milk 11 November 2022 Devotional by Pastor W. F. Kumuyi — Sin: Red like crimson

TOPIC: SIN: RED LIKE CRIMSON

TEXT: Isaiah 1:16-19

16Wash you, make you clean; put away the evil of your doings from before mine eyes; cease to do evil;

17Learn to do well; seek judgment, relieve the oppressed, judge the fatherless, plead for the widow.

18Come now, and let us reason together, saith the LORD: though your sins be as scarlet, they shall be as white as snow; though they be red like crimson, they shall be as wool.

19If ye be willing and obedient, ye shall eat the good of the land:

Key Verse: “Come now, and let us reason together, saith the LORD: though your sins be as scarlet, they shall be as white as snow; though they be red like crimson, they shall be as wool” (Isaiah 1:18).

MESSAGE:

Colours have classes and grades, usually from the brightest to the darkest/deepest. The Bible likens sin to scarlet and crimson. Scarlet is the brightest of the family of red colour, tending towards orange, while crimson is the deepest or darkest of red colour, close to purple.

This comparison of scarlet and crimson with sin is a figure of speech to explain the fact that, no matter how bad a person is, the blood of Jesus is enough to remove and cleanse such. The sacrifice of Jesus on the cross of Calvary is for all sins.

God speaks through Prophet Isaiah that, despite the deep state of sin into which Judah has fallen, He is still willing to completely cleanse and purify those who forsake their sins and turn to Him. Jesus came, suffered and died on the cross for our redemption from sin.

Nothing can wash away sin except the blood of Jesus. Only by faith in Christ can one’s sins be cleansed. No matter how far you have gone in your wrong doings, come to Jesus by repenting of your sin, asking Him for forgiveness and cleansing through His blood. Invite Him into your life to be Lord and Saviour.

As a believer, do not think somebody’s sin is too great to be forgiven. Preach the gospel to all sinners and lead them to the merciful Saviour.

Prayer: Lord Jesus, set me free from sin and make me clean.

GOSPEL REALM: STEPS TO SALVATION
1. Admit that you are a sinner. "For all [humans] have sinned, and comes short of the glory of God....[and] the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord" (Romans 3:23)
2. Repent now. "Repent ye therefore, and be converted, that your sins may be blotted out ...[for] if we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness " (Acts 3:19, 1 John 1:9)
3. Believe that God loves you and Jesus died for you. "God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet Sinners, Christ died for us" (Romans 5:8)
4. Invite Jesus into your life through prayer of faith. Jesus says, "Behold, I stand at the door, and knock: if any man hear my voice, and open the door, I will come in to him, and will sup with him, and he with me" (Revelation 3:20)
