TOPIC: SPECIFIC GOALS
TEXT: JOHN 9:4-7
4I must work the works of him that sent me, while it is day: the night cometh, when no man can work.
5As long as I am in the world, I am the light of the world.
6When he had thus spoken, he spat on the ground, and made clay of the spittle, and he anointed the eyes of the blind man with the clay,
7And said unto him, Go, wash in the pool of Siloam, (which is by interpretation, Sent.) He went his way therefore, and washed, and came seeing.
Key Verse: “I must work the works of him that sent me, while it is day: the night cometh, when no man can work” (John 9:4).
MESSAGE:
Each day we live on earth is for a purpose. Our lives therefore must be purpose-driven. This means we must have definite goals and objectives that we want to achieve each day.
Jesus Christ our Lord had an ultimate purpose, which is to take away the sins of the world and to seek and to save the lost sinners from perishing. Every word He spoke was directed towards that purpose.

All His teachings, preaching and miracles were done for the accomplishment of that purpose. He avoided all distractions to the purpose. He removed all hindrances to that purpose. He overcame all temptations against the purpose and got the goal accomplished by His death on the cross at Calvary.
Our goals must be very specific and clear. It must be written down with action words like read, pray, develop, solve, do, etc. It is the action that brings about the accomplishment. Write out in the space below, one specific goal you want to accomplish today:
Prayer: Dear Father, make my life a purposeful one.

1. Admit that you are a sinner. "For all [humans] have sinned, and comes short of the glory of God....[and] the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord" (Romans 3:23)
2. Repent now. "Repent ye therefore, and be converted, that your sins may be blotted out ...[for] if we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness " (Acts 3:19, 1 John 1:9)
3. Believe that God loves you and Jesus died for you. "God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet Sinners, Christ died for us" (Romans 5:8)
4. Invite Jesus into your life through prayer of faith. Jesus says, "Behold, I stand at the door, and knock: if any man hear my voice, and open the door, I will come in to him, and will sup with him, and he with me" (Revelation 3:20)
