DCLM Higher Everyday 26 October 2022 — Spiritual gladiators sing

DCLM Higher Everyday 26 October 2022 Devotional by Pastor W. F. Kumuyi — Spiritual gladiators sing

TOPIC: SPIRITUAL GLADIATORS SING

TEXT: EXODUS 15:1-7

1Then sang Moses and the children of Israel this song unto the LORD, and spake, saying, I will sing unto the LORD, for he hath triumphed gloriously: the horse and his rider hath he thrown into the sea.

2The LORD is my strength and song, and he is become my salvation: he is my God, and I will prepare him an habitation; my father’s God, and I will exalt him.

3The LORD is a man of war: the LORD is his name.

4Pharaoh’s chariots and his host hath he cast into the sea: his chosen captains also are drowned in the Red sea.

5The depths have covered them: they sank into the bottom as a stone.

6Thy right hand, O LORD, is become glorious in power: thy right hand, O LORD, hath dashed in pieces the enemy.

7And in the greatness of thine excellency thou hast overthrown them that rose up against thee: thou sentest forth thy wrath, which consumed them as stubble.

MEMORY VERSE: “The LORD is my strength and song, and he is become my salvation: he is my God, and I will prepare him an habitation; my father’s God, and I will exalt him” (EXODUS 15:2).

MESSAGE:

Once upon a time, King Saul mischievously sent some men to watch David’s house at night and kill him the next morning (1 Samuel 19:11). That night, David glorified God, singing, “But I will sing of thy power; yea, I will sing aloud of thy mercy in the morning: for thou hast been my defence and refuge in the day of my trouble” (Psalm 59:16). He was always singing praises to God for shielding him from trouble.

Moses and the children of Israel sang a glorious song of victory after God delivered them from Pharaoh and his horsemen. God’s works reveal His power and wisdom hence Moses and the Israelites exalted Him in the song of triumph which shall still be sung in heaven (Exodus 15:1-3; Revelation 15:2-4).

Are you merry? Sing psalms. Sing with grace in your heart each time you gain even a small victory, be it passing an exam; arriving safely to your home, school or workplace; or sleeping and waking up without any challenge. Beloved spiritual gladiator, sing with gratitude whenever God blesses your family.

QUOTE: Are you merry? Sing psalms.

CHALLENGE: Sing with thanksgiving and God will bless you more.

PRAYER: Dear Lord, may my mouth always be filled with songs of praise to You.

GOSPEL REALM: STEPS TO SALVATION
1. Admit that you are a sinner. "For all [humans] have sinned, and comes short of the glory of God....[and] the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord" (Romans 3:23)
2. Repent now. "Repent ye therefore, and be converted, that your sins may be blotted out ...[for] if we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness " (Acts 3:19, 1 John 1:9)
3. Believe that God loves you and Jesus died for you. "God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet Sinners, Christ died for us" (Romans 5:8)
4. Invite Jesus into your life through prayer of faith. Jesus says, "Behold, I stand at the door, and knock: if any man hear my voice, and open the door, I will come in to him, and will sup with him, and he with me" (Revelation 3:20)
