TOPIC: SWEET GOOD SUCCESS

BIBLE TEXT: JOSHUA 1:5-9

5There shall not any man be able to stand before thee all the days of thy life: as I was with Moses, so I will be with thee: I will not fail thee, nor forsake thee.

6Be strong and of a good courage: for unto this people shalt thou divide for an inheritance the land, which I sware unto their fathers to give them.

7Only be thou strong and very courageous, that thou mayest observe to do according to all the law, which Moses my servant commanded thee: turn not from it to the right hand or to the left, that thou mayest prosper whithersoever thou goest.

8This book of the law shall not depart out of thy mouth; but thou shalt meditate therein day and night, that thou mayest observe to do according to all that is written therein: for then thou shalt make thy way prosperous, and then thou shalt have good success.

9Have not I commanded thee? Be strong and of a good courage; be not afraid, neither be thou dismayed: for the LORD thy God is with thee whithersoever thou goest.

MEMORY VERSE: “This book of the law shall not depart out of thy mouth; but thou shalt meditate therein day and night, that thou mayest observe to do according to all that is written therein: for then thou shalt make thy way prosperous, and then thou shalt have good success” (JOSHUA 1:8).

MESSAGE

A young man, Andrew, testified, “I come from a humble home; my parents did everything they could to provide me with every opportunity to succeed. We would attend church; say grace before meals and prayers before going to bed. God was in my life, but I didn’t fully know Him. I faced myriads of failure until I came to the realization of the true Author of success – God. I believed in and surrendered my life to Him, obeying His word; only then did my life begin to take shape.”

Joshua in our text had been chosen by God to replace Moses as the leader of God’s children, and in turn lead them to the Promised Land. That was a no easy task, but God assured him of good success as long as he heeded His word, remained courageous and focused. Everyone wants to succeed. However, to get the sweet success we so desire, like Joshua, we must meditate on God’s word, obey it and then pray and work hard. The Bible is our manual for success, and the perfect guide in life.

QUOTE: The Bible is our manual for success.

CHALLENGE: Obedience to God’s word is the secret of good success.

PRAYER: Oh God, help me to meditate on Your word and obey it.

GOSPEL REALM: STEPS TO SALVATION
1. Admit that you are a sinner. "For all [humans] have sinned, and comes short of the glory of God....[and] the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord" (Romans 3:23)
2. Repent now. "Repent ye therefore, and be converted, that your sins may be blotted out ...[for] if we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness " (Acts 3:19, 1 John 1:9)
3. Believe that God loves you and Jesus died for you. "God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet Sinners, Christ died for us" (Romans 5:8)
4. Invite Jesus into your life through prayer of faith. Jesus says, "Behold, I stand at the door, and knock: if any man hear my voice, and open the door, I will come in to him, and will sup with him, and he with me" (Revelation 3:20)
