DCLM Sincere Milk  14 March 2023 Devotional by Pastor W. F. Kumuyi — Sweet hour of prayer

TOPIC: SWEET HOUR OF PRAYER

TEXT: Mark 1:35-42

35And in the morning, rising up a great while before day, he went out, and departed into a solitary place, and there prayed.

36And Simon and they that were with him followed after him.

37And when they had found him, they said unto him, All men seek for thee.

38And he said unto them, Let us go into the next towns, that I may preach there also: for therefore came I forth.

39And he preached in their synagogues throughout all Galilee, and cast out devils.

40And there came a leper to him, beseeching him, and kneeling down to him, and saying unto him, If thou wilt, thou canst make me clean.

41And Jesus, moved with compassion, put forth his hand, and touched him, and saith unto him, I will; be thou clean.

42And as soon as he had spoken, immediately the leprosy departed from him, and he was cleansed.

Key Verse: “And in the morning, rising up a great while before day, he went out, and departed into a solitary place, and there prayed.” Mark 1:35

MESSAGE:

Prayer is the means by which friends of Jesus talk to God and have fellowship with Him. From our text, we saw that Jesus spends quality time very early in the morning to pray.

Prayer should be part of your daily life anywhere you find yourself. John Bryan was a boy that loves prayer and makes it a duty to wake up very early in the morning daily to pray for hours. He became so addicted to prayer that his mother nicknamed him “the praying John.” His life was a perfect example for other children to follow, no wonder he excelled in every area of his life.

The question is, are you like the praying John? Or you are the type that loves to sleep a lot and will not wake up in the morning to pray. Prayer is the master key and without prayer, you cannot get victory in life. If you have not been spending time to pray, develop the habit from today and begin to experience God’s wonder in your life.

GOSPEL REALM: STEPS TO SALVATION
1. Admit that you are a sinner. "For all [humans] have sinned, and comes short of the glory of God....[and] the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord" (Romans 3:23)
2. Repent now. "Repent ye therefore, and be converted, that your sins may be blotted out ...[for] if we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness " (Acts 3:19, 1 John 1:9)
3. Believe that God loves you and Jesus died for you. "God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet Sinners, Christ died for us" (Romans 5:8)
4. Invite Jesus into your life through prayer of faith. Jesus says, "Behold, I stand at the door, and knock: if any man hear my voice, and open the door, I will come in to him, and will sup with him, and he with me" (Revelation 3:20)
