DCLM Higher Everyday 10 February 2026 — Ten Times Better

DCLM Higher Everyday 10 February 2026 Devotional by Pastor W. F. Kumuyi — Ten Times Better

Topic: Ten Times Better

Text: Daniel 1: 17-20

17As for these four children, God gave them knowledge and skill in all learning and wisdom: and Daniel had understanding in all visions and dreams.

18Now at the end of the days that the king had said he should bring them in, then the prince of the eunuchs brought them in before Nebuchadnezzar.

19And the king communed with them; and among them all was found none like Daniel, Hananiah, Mishael, and Azariah: therefore stood they before the king.

20And in all matters of wisdom and understanding, that the king enquired of them, he found them ten times better than all the magicians and astrologers that were in all his realm.

Key Verse: “And in all matters of wisdom and understanding, that the king enquired of them, he found them ten times better than all the magicians and astrologers that were in all his realm” (Daniel 1:20).

Message

Sarah refused to compromise her faith at college, even when others embraced ungodly shortcuts. She studied diligently and trusted God. In the end, she excelled beyond expectations, proving that standing for God brings uncommon success. Similarly, Daniel and his friends, though strangers in Babylon, recognized their divine uniqueness. Daniel led the decision to avoid defilement with the king’s food, knowing their success depended on God, not earthly privileges. They rejected worldly ways and chose to honour God. In response, God granted them exceptional wisdom and knowledge. When tested by the king, they were found to be ten times better than all the magicians and astrologers in his realm.

Christian youths who dare to stand for God will reflect His glory in both spiritual and secular pursuits. Today, being ten times better requires faith, discipline, and unwavering commitment to God. Whether in a challenging ‘Babylon’ or a comfortable ‘Beulah,’ those who trust in God will always rise above the rest. To be ten times better than your peers, requires your dedication to God in your spiritual and secular callings.

Quote: They rejected worldly ways

Challenge: Go for more, don’t settle for less!

Prayer for today: Lord, please endow me with the spirit of excellence.

GOSPEL REALM: STEPS TO SALVATION
1. Admit that you are a sinner. "For all [humans] have sinned, and comes short of the glory of God....[and] the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord" (Romans 3:23)
2. Repent now. "Repent ye therefore, and be converted, that your sins may be blotted out ...[for] if we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness " (Acts 3:19, 1 John 1:9)
3. Believe that God loves you and Jesus died for you. "God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet Sinners, Christ died for us" (Romans 5:8)
4. Invite Jesus into your life through prayer of faith. Jesus says, "Behold, I stand at the door, and knock: if any man hear my voice, and open the door, I will come in to him, and will sup with him, and he with me" (Revelation 3:20)
