DCLM Higher Everyday 3 March 2026 — The Gods Are Dead

DCLM Higher Everyday 3 March 2026 Devotional by Pastor W. F. Kumuyi — The Gods Are Dead

Topic: The Gods Are Dead

Text: Isaiah 26:12-14

12LORD, thou wilt ordain peace for us: for thou also hast wrought all our works in us.

13O LORD our God, other lords beside thee have had dominion over us: but by thee only will we make mention of thy name.

14They are dead, they shall not live; they are deceased, they shall not rise: therefore hast thou visited and destroyed them, and made all their memory to perish.

Key Verse:  “They are dead, they shall not live; they are deceased, they shall not rise: therefore hast thou visited and destroyed them, and made all their memory to perish” (Isaiah 26:14).

Message

A songwriter once sang, “All other gods are the works of men… among all the gods, there’s none like Thee.” The song reaffirms God’s unchanging power and greatness and also reveals the nothingness of gods or idols. They are dead gods, having eyes that cannot see and ears that cannot hear – they are the works of men’s hands. As a youth, you may be tempted to serve idols or false gods. But these gods are powerless and can’t add value to your life.

They can’t be trusted, and can’t save one from the bondage to sin and Satan. The devil uses them sometimes to perform fake miracles to deceive people and to harden those who believe in them. Why rely on such gods when you can trust the Almighty God who never changes? The truth is, those gods are dead gods. Having access to the living God requires repentance and surrendering of your life to Jesus Christ and obeying His word consistently.

Quote: But these gods are powerless

Challenge: Turn away from idols and false gods.

Prayer for today: My God, don’t allow me to serve gods. Keep me focused on You.

GOSPEL REALM: STEPS TO SALVATION
1. Admit that you are a sinner. "For all [humans] have sinned, and comes short of the glory of God....[and] the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord" (Romans 3:23)
2. Repent now. "Repent ye therefore, and be converted, that your sins may be blotted out ...[for] if we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness " (Acts 3:19, 1 John 1:9)
3. Believe that God loves you and Jesus died for you. "God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet Sinners, Christ died for us" (Romans 5:8)
4. Invite Jesus into your life through prayer of faith. Jesus says, "Behold, I stand at the door, and knock: if any man hear my voice, and open the door, I will come in to him, and will sup with him, and he with me" (Revelation 3:20)
