DCLM Sincere Milk 29 December 2022 — The Happy Child

DCLM Sincere Milk 29 December 2022 Devotional by Pastor W. F. Kumuyi — The Happy Child

TOPIC: THE HAPPY CHILD

TEXT: JOHN 13:15-17

15For I have given you an example, that ye should do as I have done to you.

16Verily, verily, I say unto you, The servant is not greater than his lord; neither he that is sent greater than he that sent him.

17If ye know these things, happy are ye if ye do them.

Key Verse: “If ye know these things, happy are ye if ye do them” (John 13:17).

MESSAGE:

Friendship with Christ is the way of happiness.

“I’m happy, I’m happy, I’m happy,
The Son of God is my Friend.
I’m happy, I’m happy, I’m happy,
The Son of God is my Friend.”

This is the chorus Sally loves singing anytime she is in the fellowship. She is always happy and joyful because she is a real friend of Jesus.

Friendship with God brings joy and gladness. There is no other place to find happiness than with Christ. You can find and enjoy happiness by first surrendering your life to Jesus through repentance. Then you receive forgiveness and cleansing through the blood of Jesus.

The second step is committing yourself to obeying God’s word by following the footsteps of Jesus our Master. You will strive to put on all the virtues which include love, humility, obedience, holiness, submission, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, faith, patience and many more.

Jesus Himself pronounced blessings on those who will always obey His word. He says, “If ye know these things, happy are ye if ye do them” (John 13:17). You will be happy here on earth and also rejoice as you get to heaven at last.

Prayer: Lord, accept and make me a happy child.

GOSPEL REALM: STEPS TO SALVATION
1. Admit that you are a sinner. "For all [humans] have sinned, and comes short of the glory of God....[and] the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord" (Romans 3:23)
2. Repent now. "Repent ye therefore, and be converted, that your sins may be blotted out ...[for] if we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness " (Acts 3:19, 1 John 1:9)
3. Believe that God loves you and Jesus died for you. "God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet Sinners, Christ died for us" (Romans 5:8)
4. Invite Jesus into your life through prayer of faith. Jesus says, "Behold, I stand at the door, and knock: if any man hear my voice, and open the door, I will come in to him, and will sup with him, and he with me" (Revelation 3:20)
