DCLM Sincere Milk 31 October 2023 Devotional by Pastor W. F. Kumuyi — Bible Kidz – The Lad With Five Loaves And Two Fishes
Topic: Bible Kidz – The Lad With Five Loaves And Two Fishes
Text: John 6:5-13
6And this he said to prove him: for he himself knew what he would do.
7Philip answered him, Two hundred pennyworth of bread is not sufficient for them, that every one of them may take a little.
8One of his disciples, Andrew, Simon Peter’s brother, saith unto him,
9There is a lad here, which hath five barley loaves, and two small fishes: but what are they among so many?
10And Jesus said, Make the men sit down. Now there was much grass in the place. So the men sat down, in number about five thousand.
11And Jesus took the loaves; and when he had given thanks, he distributed to the disciples, and the disciples to them that were set down; and likewise of the fishes as much as they would.
12When they were filled, he said unto his disciples, Gather up the fragments that remain, that nothing be lost.
13Therefore they gathered them together, and filled twelve baskets with the fragments of the five barley loaves, which remained over and above unto them that had eaten.
Key Verse: “There is a lad here, which hath five barley loaves, and two small fishes: but what are they among so many?” John 6:9
Message
Jesus loves little children and desires that they come to Him. During His earthly ministry, multitudes of people always gathered to hear Him teach. Among those people were children of different ages. In our Bible story, we can see a boy whose name was not given; he too came with the multitude to learn from Jesus and experience miracles. Nobody would have probably noticed him among the crowd. But Andrew did, because of what he had that Jesus found useful for the good of everyone. He was the lad with five loaves of bread and two small fishes. He released all when Jesus needed them to feed the multitude. The bread and the little fishes became more than enough to feed the thousands of people after Jesus had blessed and broken them to be served to the people. The lad was:
A Loving and caring friend of Jesus.
An Abiding and faithful follower of the Saviour.
A Dedicated and true worshipper.
Truly, this story teaches us to generously share what we have with others. It also shows us that what people may consider to be little can be used by Jesus Christ to do great things when surrendered to Him.

Prayer for today: Lord, I give You my heart and all for Your use.
1. Admit that you are a sinner. "For all [humans] have sinned, and comes short of the glory of God....[and] the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord" (Romans 3:23)
2. Repent now. "Repent ye therefore, and be converted, that your sins may be blotted out ...[for] if we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness " (Acts 3:19, 1 John 1:9)
3. Believe that God loves you and Jesus died for you. "God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet Sinners, Christ died for us" (Romans 5:8)
4. Invite Jesus into your life through prayer of faith. Jesus says, "Behold, I stand at the door, and knock: if any man hear my voice, and open the door, I will come in to him, and will sup with him, and he with me" (Revelation 3:20)
