TOPIC: THE NEIGHBOURS’ TESTIMONY

TEXT: JOHN 9:7-11

7And said unto him, Go, wash in the pool of Siloam, (which is by interpretation, Sent.) He went his way therefore, and washed, and came seeing.

8The neighbours therefore, and they which before had seen him that he was blind, said, Is not this he that sat and begged?

9Some said, This is he: others said, He is like him: but he said, I am he.

10Therefore said they unto him, How were thine eyes opened?

11He answered and said, A man that is called Jesus made clay, and anointed mine eyes, and said unto me, Go to the pool of Siloam, and wash: and I went and washed, and I received sight.

Key Verse: “The neighbours therefore, and they which before had seen him that he was blind, said, Is not this he that sat and begged?” (John 9:8).

MESSAGE:

We see in our society today people that daily rely on alms to live. They are many in public places, particularly around the markets. Many of these people are blind, deaf, dumb, lame or having other forms of disability, and have to beg because they don’t have anybody to cater for them.

This was the situation with the blind man in our Bible passage who before he met Jesus Christ, had lived in shame, poverty and depending on alms from people. He was helpless and had to rely on willing relations or friends to guide him around, and to get little income from alms. As soon as he met with the compassionate Saviour, he became well. His neighbours saw him and testified of God’s wonders in his life.

Sin makes a person blind, helpless, hopeless, aimless and without direction. Sin blinds us from seeing God’s riches and manifold blessings. Then God in His infinite mercy came to our rescue by sending His Son to come and open our eyes and free us from the grip of sin.

When a sinner meets with Jesus, he receives salvation and his spiritual eyes will be opened. People around will definitely see the fruits of his changed life. In addition to salvation, those that come to Jesus receive healing, deliverance and unlimited blessings.

Come to Jesus today and He will give you salvation and loads of blessings that people will see in you and testify to God’s glory.

Prayer: O Lord, bless me and make people see Your goodness in my life.

GOSPEL REALM: STEPS TO SALVATION
1. Admit that you are a sinner. "For all [humans] have sinned, and comes short of the glory of God....[and] the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord" (Romans 3:23)
2. Repent now. "Repent ye therefore, and be converted, that your sins may be blotted out ...[for] if we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness " (Acts 3:19, 1 John 1:9)
3. Believe that God loves you and Jesus died for you. "God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet Sinners, Christ died for us" (Romans 5:8)
4. Invite Jesus into your life through prayer of faith. Jesus says, "Behold, I stand at the door, and knock: if any man hear my voice, and open the door, I will come in to him, and will sup with him, and he with me" (Revelation 3:20)
