TEXT: MATTHEW 4:23-25
23 And Jesus went about all Galilee, teaching in their synagogues, and preaching the gospel of the kingdom, and healing all manner of sickness and all manner of disease among the people.
25 And there followed him great multitudes of people from Galilee, and from Decapolis, and from Jerusalem, and from Judaea, and from beyond Jordan.
MEMORY VERSE: “And Jesus went about all Galilee, teaching in their synagogues, and preaching the gospel of the kingdom, and healing all manner of sickness and all manner of disease among the people” (MATTHEW 4:23).
MESSAGE:
On the 13th of May, 1992, Pope John Paul II who had been diagnosed with Parkinson’s disease a year earlier, instituted the “World Day of the Sick” and it is commemorated annually on the 11th of February. The day is dedicated to praying and caring for the sick.
As revealed in our text, Jesus Christ demonstrated His care for the sick by healing all manner of sicknesses and diseases among the people as He went about doing good things and delivering all that were oppressed by the devil during His earthly ministry.
Christ’s power to heal is stoill the same today; and He is still the answer for a world that is ravaged by pandemics and all forms of life-threatening diseases. He is the greatest Physician who willingly bore our sicknesses in His body on the the cross, and paid the ultimate price for our health.
But remember that sin opens the door for sickness to afflict all sinners, including youths. Only repentance and faith in Christ can guarantee your permanent healing and health. He will surely heal you as you trust in Him today.
QUOTE: He is the greatest Physician.
CHALLENGE: Trust in Jesus for your healing.
PRAYER: Lord, grant me healing and perfect health in Jesus’ name.
1. Admit that you are a sinner. "For all [humans] have sinned, and comes short of the glory of God....[and] the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord" (Romans 3:23)
2. Repent now. "Repent ye therefore, and be converted, that your sins may be blotted out ...[for] if we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness " (Acts 3:19, 1 John 1:9)
3. Believe that God loves you and Jesus died for you. "God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet Sinners, Christ died for us" (Romans 5:8)
4. Invite Jesus into your life through prayer of faith. Jesus says, "Behold, I stand at the door, and knock: if any man hear my voice, and open the door, I will come in to him, and will sup with him, and he with me" (Revelation 3:20)
