DCLM Sincere Milk 13 August 2023 — The Wise Child
DCLM Sincere Milk 13 August 2023 Devotional by Pastor W. F. Kumuyi — The Wise Child
Topic: The Wise Child
Text: Hebrews 12:15-17
16Lest there be any fornicator, or profane person, as Esau, who for one morsel of meat sold his birthright.
17For ye know how that afterward, when he would have inherited the blessing, he was rejected: for he found no place of repentance, though he sought it carefully with tears.
Key Verse: “Looking diligently lest any man fail of the grace of God;” Hebrews 12:15a
Message
Paulina and Paula were sisters who love to sing and desire to buy violins. One day, their aunt gave them some money enough to buy their dreamed violins. Paulina chose to buy a violin with her share of the money while Paula used hers to buy plenty of ice cream and biscuits which she finished after a few days, while her sister still had her violin. Paulina acted wisely but Paula did not.
In making choices, you must consider not only what you would gain at that moment but also the effect of your choice on your future. When you make bad choices, you will likely enjoy now and suffer later. Do not be like Esau who exchanged his future blessings and inheritance for just food that lasted just for some moments. What a foolish decision that was!
Yielding to suggestions to do evil and sinning against God is a foolish decision. Friends of Jesus must daily ask God for grace to overcome. Laziness must be avoided if you desire to be successful in life. Procrastination and distraction are also twin-evils you must not allow in your life. Fear the Lord, take to correction when you are corrected by your godly parents and teachers and God will help you to be what He wants you to be.

Prayer for today: Dear Lord, please make me a wise child. Help me to fear You and run from evil.
1. Admit that you are a sinner. "For all [humans] have sinned, and comes short of the glory of God....[and] the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord" (Romans 3:23)
2. Repent now. "Repent ye therefore, and be converted, that your sins may be blotted out ...[for] if we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness " (Acts 3:19, 1 John 1:9)
3. Believe that God loves you and Jesus died for you. "God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet Sinners, Christ died for us" (Romans 5:8)
4. Invite Jesus into your life through prayer of faith. Jesus says, "Behold, I stand at the door, and knock: if any man hear my voice, and open the door, I will come in to him, and will sup with him, and he with me" (Revelation 3:20)
