TOPIC: TREASURE IN HEAVEN

TEXT: LUKE 12:31-34

31But rather seek ye the kingdom of God; and all these things shall be added unto you.

32Fear not, little flock; for it is your Father’s good pleasure to give you the kingdom.

33Sell that ye have, and give alms; provide yourselves bags which wax not old, a treasure in the heavens that faileth not, where no thief approacheth, neither moth corrupteth.

34For where your treasure is, there will your heart be also.

Key Verse: “Sell that ye have, and give alms; provide yourselves bags which wax not old, a treasure in the heavens that faileth not, where no thief approacheth, neither moth corrupteth” (Luke 12:33).

MESSAGE:
All the beautiful houses, big cars and fantastic recreational facilities cannot be compared with the riches in heaven. Many children enjoy the pleasures of the things of this world but do not have the joy of the Lord and the hope of living with God in heaven. Every generation comes with its own beautiful designs of various things that make life easy and enjoyable. After a while, these things will become outdated.

This shows the uselessness of building up treasures on earth and setting our affections or love on such things. The riches of this world have no value if we do not have the love of God in our hearts. Clothes and food can only keep you physically healthy, but your life will be empty without Jesus.

God wants you to set your affections on things above and not on the riches of this world. Surrender your life to Jesus and He will bless you richly. Also, make yourself rich towards heaven by preaching the gospel to others, encouraging the weak, cleaning God’s temple, doing good to others and praying for the sick or needy.

As you do all these and more, God will be happy with you. You will be spiritually strong and consistent in the faith. Besides, big mansions await you in heaven.

Prayer: Lord, help me to set my affections on things above.

GOSPEL REALM: STEPS TO SALVATION
1. Admit that you are a sinner. "For all [humans] have sinned, and comes short of the glory of God....[and] the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord" (Romans 3:23)
2. Repent now. "Repent ye therefore, and be converted, that your sins may be blotted out ...[for] if we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness " (Acts 3:19, 1 John 1:9)
3. Believe that God loves you and Jesus died for you. "God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet Sinners, Christ died for us" (Romans 5:8)
4. Invite Jesus into your life through prayer of faith. Jesus says, "Behold, I stand at the door, and knock: if any man hear my voice, and open the door, I will come in to him, and will sup with him, and he with me" (Revelation 3:20)
