Bible Reading: John 3:15-18 (KJV)
15That whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have eternal life.
17For God sent not his Son into the world to condemn the world; but that the world through him might be saved.
18He that believeth on him is not condemned: but he that believeth not is condemned already, because he hath not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God.
KEY VERSE: “For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life” (John 3:16).
Message
After a forest fire in Yellowstone National Park in 1989, a forest ranger found a bird petrified in ashes, perched on the ground at the base of a tree. He knocked over the bird with a stick. When he struck it, three tiny chicks scurried from beneath their dead mother’s wings. The loving mother, keenly aware of impending disaster, carried her offspring to the base of the tree and had gathered them under her wings, instinctively knowing that the toxic smoke would rise. She could have flown to safety, but had refused to abandon her chicks.
This can be likened to the Unsurpassable love of God for the world, in offering His only begotten Son for all mankind. What a loving Saviour! Never forsake the privilege of your salvation. “For when we were yet without strength…Christ died for the ungodly. For scarcely for a righteous man will one die: yet peradventure for a good man some would even dare to die. But God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us” (Romans 5:6-8).
Oh God, help me to serve my Jesus all the days of my life.
Live to serve Him all the days of your life.
1. Admit that you are a sinner. "For all [humans] have sinned, and comes short of the glory of God....[and] the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord" (Romans 3:23)
2. Repent now. "Repent ye therefore, and be converted, that your sins may be blotted out ...[for] if we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness " (Acts 3:19, 1 John 1:9)
3. Believe that God loves you and Jesus died for you. "God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet Sinners, Christ died for us" (Romans 5:8)
4. Invite Jesus into your life through prayer of faith. Jesus says, "Behold, I stand at the door, and knock: if any man hear my voice, and open the door, I will come in to him, and will sup with him, and he with me" (Revelation 3:20)
