TOPIC: THE BEATITUDE – 4

TEXT: MATTHEW 5:8-13

8 Blessed are the pure in heart: for they shall see God.

9 Blessed are the peacemakers: for they shall be called the children of God.

10 Blessed are they which are persecuted for righteousness’ sake: for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.

11 Blessed are ye, when men shall revile you, and persecute you, and shall say all manner of evil against you falsely, for my sake.

12 Rejoice, and be exceeding glad: for great is your reward in heaven: for so persecuted they the prophets which were before you.

13 Ye are the salt of the earth: but if the salt have lost his savour, wherewith shall it be salted? it is thenceforth good for nothing, but to be cast out, and to be trodden under foot of men.

MEMORY VERSE: “Blessed are the pure in heart: for they shall see God” (MATTHEW 5:8).

MESSAGE:

This Beatitude depicts the true condition of the citizens of heaven. They are pure in heart because they have been delivered from the power of sin. They shall see God because they have been washed with the blood of the Lamb. They live to please God and they shall dwell in His presence forever. Purity gives us access to God.

The peacemakers are also blessed abundantly. They are those who have been reconciled to God and now strive to bring others, even their enemies, to God. Reconciliation through Christ brings fellowship with God and peace of mind. As a believer, note that persecution and rejection will be the lot of all those who seek to live a righteous, pure and uncompromising life.

Are you a peacemaker or a trouble maker? Do you take delight in seeing your mates suffer and be in sorrow because of the pain you make them go through? Jesus is not happy with you, if you do so. You need to turn away from your wicked ways and repent, if you have not done that already.

QUOTE: Purity gives us access to God.

CHALLENGE: Strive to be pure at all times.

PRAYER: Lord, make me pure in Your sight.

GOSPEL REALM: STEPS TO SALVATION
1. Admit that you are a sinner. "For all [humans] have sinned, and comes short of the glory of God....[and] the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord" (Romans 3:23)
2. Repent now. "Repent ye therefore, and be converted, that your sins may be blotted out ...[for] if we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness " (Acts 3:19, 1 John 1:9)
3. Believe that God loves you and Jesus died for you. "God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet Sinners, Christ died for us" (Romans 5:8)
4. Invite Jesus into your life through prayer of faith. Jesus says, "Behold, I stand at the door, and knock: if any man hear my voice, and open the door, I will come in to him, and will sup with him, and he with me" (Revelation 3:20)
