DCLM Higher Everyday 11 August 2023 — Warning Against Deceivers In The World

DCLM Higher Everyday  11 August 2023 Devotional by Pastor W. F. Kumuyi — Warning Against Deceivers In The World

Topic: Warning Against Deceivers In The World

Text : 2 John 1:3-11

3Grace be with you, mercy, and peace, from God the Father, and from the Lord Jesus Christ, the Son of the Father, in truth and love.

4I rejoiced greatly that I found of thy children walking in truth, as we have received a commandment from the Father.

5And now I beseech thee, lady, not as though I wrote a new commandment unto thee, but that which we had from the beginning, that we love one another.

6And this is love, that we walk after his commandments. This is the commandment, That, as ye have heard from the beginning, ye should walk in it.

7For many deceivers are entered into the world, who confess not that Jesus Christ is come in the flesh. This is a deceiver and an antichrist.

8Look to yourselves, that we lose not those things which we have wrought, but that we receive a full reward.

9Whosoever transgresseth, and abideth not in the doctrine of Christ, hath not God. He that abideth in the doctrine of Christ, he hath both the Father and the Son.

10If there come any unto you, and bring not this doctrine, receive him not into your house, neither bid him God speed:

11For he that biddeth him God speed is partaker of his evil deeds.

Key Verse: “For many deceivers are entered into the world, who confess not that Jesus Christ is come in the flesh. This is a deceiver and an antichrist” (2 John 1:7).

Message

Going by the Scriptures, we are now in the last days, watching and seeing the fulfilment of nearly all the prophetic events that should predate the rapture and the second coming of Jesus Christ. Key amongst these is the proliferation of false prophets and false teachers, agents of Satan masquerading as “men of God.” Multitudes have been deceived already because, “The predictions of false prophets always come true,” says Marty Rubin. Except for minds illuminated by the Word of God, most people take fulfilment of predictions as divine approval of a prophet. Unfortunately, this is false!

Beloved youths, here are some marks of the deceivers:

(1) They add to God’s Word, claiming access to new revelations

(2) They subtract from God’s word and declare that some Bible teachings are outdated

(3) They deliberately misinterpret and misapply God’s word, like Hymenaeus and Philetus who preached that the resurrection had passed already (2 Timothy 2:17-18).

(4) They are hypocrites, preaching the Word but doing something else.

So, read the Bible, yield your heart to Christ and receive divine guidance on identification and avoidance of deceivers.

Quote: So, read the Bible

Challenge: Recognize and resist deceivers.

Prayer for today: Draw me to thee, O Lord, that I might be shielded from deceivers.

GOSPEL REALM: STEPS TO SALVATION
1. Admit that you are a sinner. "For all [humans] have sinned, and comes short of the glory of God....[and] the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord" (Romans 3:23)
2. Repent now. "Repent ye therefore, and be converted, that your sins may be blotted out ...[for] if we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness " (Acts 3:19, 1 John 1:9)
3. Believe that God loves you and Jesus died for you. "God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet Sinners, Christ died for us" (Romans 5:8)
4. Invite Jesus into your life through prayer of faith. Jesus says, "Behold, I stand at the door, and knock: if any man hear my voice, and open the door, I will come in to him, and will sup with him, and he with me" (Revelation 3:20)
