TOPIC: WHEN SINS ARE FORGIVEN
BIBLE TEXT: PSALMS 32:1-5
1(A Psalm of David, Maschil.) Blessed is he whose transgression is forgiven, whose sin is covered.
2Blessed is the man unto whom the LORD imputeth not iniquity, and in whose spirit there is no guile.
3When I kept silence, my bones waxed old through my roaring all the day long.
4For day and night thy hand was heavy upon me: my moisture is turned into the drought of summer. Selah.
5I acknowledged my sin unto thee, and mine iniquity have I not hid. I said, I will confess my transgressions unto the LORD; and thou forgavest the iniquity of my sin. Selah.
MEMORY VERSE: “I acknowledged my sin unto thee, and mine iniquity have I not hid. I said, I will confess my transgressions unto the LORD; and thou forgavest the iniquity of my sin. Selah’’ (Psalm 32:5).
MESSAGE
The nations of the world punish persons who commit offences, resulting in imprisonments and sometimes in death penalty to stop them from posing further danger to human lives. Have you ever felt guilty and condemned by your conscience for a wrong deed? While you were waiting for reactions from the offended person your heart was troubled and tormented by fear. So will every sinner be troubled at God’s final judgment.
God provides pardon through Christ for every penitent heart to escape eternal punishment in the lake of fire (Revelation 21:8). In our text today, the Psalmist was excited as a benefactor of the pardon for sin because he acknowledged and repented of his sins. He describes the peace, joy and freedom from condemnation of the man who receives forgiveness. A sinner gets relief from the fear of damnation when he confesses his iniquity to God. Your sins will also be forgiven if you sincerely confess and forsake them. There is joy in heaven for every sinner that turns to God in penitence.
QUOTE: There is joy in Heaven
PRAYER: Lord, I repent and accept Jesus as my Saviour.
CHALLENGE: The choice is yours – hell or heaven?
1. Admit that you are a sinner. "For all [humans] have sinned, and comes short of the glory of God....[and] the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord" (Romans 3:23)
2. Repent now. "Repent ye therefore, and be converted, that your sins may be blotted out ...[for] if we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness " (Acts 3:19, 1 John 1:9)
3. Believe that God loves you and Jesus died for you. "God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet Sinners, Christ died for us" (Romans 5:8)
4. Invite Jesus into your life through prayer of faith. Jesus says, "Behold, I stand at the door, and knock: if any man hear my voice, and open the door, I will come in to him, and will sup with him, and he with me" (Revelation 3:20)
