Text: Matthew 13: 24-29
25But while men slept, his enemy came and sowed tares among the wheat, and went his way.
26But when the blade was sprung up, and brought forth fruit, then appeared the tares also.
27So the servants of the householder came and said unto him, Sir, didst not thou sow good seed in thy field? from whence then hath it tares?
28He said unto them, An enemy hath done this. The servants said unto him, Wilt thou then that we go and gather them up?
29But he said, Nay; lest while ye gather up the tares, ye root up also the wheat with them.

Message
The lesson learnt from our Bible passage is the need for believers to be vigilant in this world; particularly in keeping our precious seed of salvation. Jesus plants the precious seed of righteousness in us, but our enemy, the devil is fighting to plant tares (weeds) to destroy the seed. Every friend of Jesus should be vigilant lest Satan and his agents make us lose our salvation.
The devil usually operates when men sleep. This is not talking about physical sleep which is good for our health. We sleep normally to renew our strength, but as friends of Jesus, we should not allow our sleep make us lose concentration. Create quality time to read the Bible and pray. Get involved in the work of preaching the gospel. Satan is fighting tirelessly to hinder many people from giving their lives to Jesus so that they will go to hell fire. Labour to preach the gospel, follow-up/visit and pray for young converts so that they can be rescued completely from the net of the devil. This is not the right time for friends of Jesus to be careless. Be watchful and vigilant. Run away from people and materials that carry dangerous and poisonous seeds. Wake up and shine for Jesus.

Prayer for today: Lord, help me to be vigilant so that the devil will not sow bad seed into my life.
1. Admit that you are a sinner. "For all [humans] have sinned, and comes short of the glory of God....[and] the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord" (Romans 3:23)
2. Repent now. "Repent ye therefore, and be converted, that your sins may be blotted out ...[for] if we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness " (Acts 3:19, 1 John 1:9)
3. Believe that God loves you and Jesus died for you. "God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet Sinners, Christ died for us" (Romans 5:8)
4. Invite Jesus into your life through prayer of faith. Jesus says, "Behold, I stand at the door, and knock: if any man hear my voice, and open the door, I will come in to him, and will sup with him, and he with me" (Revelation 3:20)
