Open Heaven For Teens 24 January 2022: Your Dressing Matters
TOPIC: Your Dressing Matters [Open Heaven for Teens 24 January 2022]
MEMORISE: Whether therefore ye eat, or drink, or whatsoever ye do, do all to the glory of God. 1 Corinthians 10:31
READ: Exodus 2:15-20
15 Now when Pharaoh heard this thing, he sought to slay Moses. But Moses fled from the face of Pharaoh, and dwelt in the land of Midian: and he sat down by a well.
16 Now the priest of Midian had seven daughters: and they came and drew water, and filled the troughs to water their father’s flock.
17 And the shepherds came and drove them away: but Moses stood up and helped them, and watered their flock.
18 And when they came to Reuel their father, he said, How is it that ye are come so soon to day?
19 And they said, An Egyptian delivered us out of the hand of the shepherds, and also drew water enough for us, and watered the flock.
20 And he said unto his daughters, And where is he? why is it that ye have left the man? call him, that he may eat bread.
BIBLE IN ONE YEAR: Matthew 17; Exodus 7-8
MESSAGE:
How you dress speaks volumes about you. Before people get an opportunity to know you, they will likely judge or address you based on how you are dressed. In today’s Bible reading, Moses fled Egypt dressed like an Egyptian prince, and as a result, when Reuel’s daughters tried describing him to their father he was referred to as an Egyptian though he was an Israelite. How you dress gives you away to strangers.

In Genesis 3:21, when God was about to send Adam and Eve out of the Garden of Eden, He made clothes for them to cover their nakedness. When God gave Moses the commandments, He also gave clear instructions on how the priests had to be dressed. Also, in the New Testament, reference is made to modest dressing. It is however unfortunate that some Christians dress modestly to Church but, outside the Church, they wear whatever they like. This is wrong: as a child of God, you must dress neatly and appropriately always, not in provocative outfits or with the motive to seduce members of the opposite sex.
KEY POINT:
Do you comply with the word of God?

1. Admit that you are a sinner. "For all [humans] have sinned, and comes short of the glory of God....[and] the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord" (Romans 3:23)
2. Repent now. "Repent ye therefore, and be converted, that your sins may be blotted out ...[for] if we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness " (Acts 3:19, 1 John 1:9)
3. Believe that God loves you and Jesus died for you. "God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet Sinners, Christ died for us" (Romans 5:8)
4. Invite Jesus into your life through prayer of faith. Jesus says, "Behold, I stand at the door, and knock: if any man hear my voice, and open the door, I will come in to him, and will sup with him, and he with me" (Revelation 3:20)
