DCLM Sincere Milk 24 January 2022 — light of the world

DCLM Sincere Milk 24 January 2022 Devotional by Pastor W. F. Kumuyi — light of the world

TOPIC: LIGHT OF THE WORLD

BIBLE TEXT: MATTHEW 5:13-16

13 Ye are the salt of the earth: but if the salt have lost his savour, wherewith shall it be salted? it is thenceforth good for nothing, but to be cast out, and to be trodden under foot of men.

14 Ye are the light of the world. A city that is set on an hill cannot be hid.

15 Neither do men light a candle, and put it under a bushel, but on a candlestick; and it giveth light unto all that are in the house.

16 Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father which is in heaven.

KEY VERSE: “Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father which is in heaven” (MATTHEW 5:16).

MESSAGE

Peace was a friend of Jesus. After her secondary school education, she was offered scholarship to study abroad. On getting to the foreign country, in her first telephone call to her mother, she said “Mom this place is just like Sodom and Gomorrah in the Bible, the sinful ways of life is too fearful, many of the so called Christians change their life style as soon as they get here and when confronted by fellow believers, they say our country’s type of Christianity can’t work here and that they need to change their way of serving God to suit their community. Most of them say that Christianity is in the heart and that the outward appearance doesn’t count.” Her mom replied, “Well my dear all I will advise is that you should not follow the tide, let your light shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father which is in heaven. Do not follow the multitude to do evil.” This statement ministered to Peace and she made up her mind to stand out as a Christian.

The Bible makes us know that as believers, we are the light of the world and that we should not allow our light dim or go off. By this Jesus wants us to live saintly and holily wherever we find ourselves in the world, by representing Him well anywhere and everywhere we go. Always shine the light of Christ in you.

GOSPEL REALM: STEPS TO SALVATION
1. Admit that you are a sinner. "For all [humans] have sinned, and comes short of the glory of God....[and] the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord" (Romans 3:23)
2. Repent now. "Repent ye therefore, and be converted, that your sins may be blotted out ...[for] if we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness " (Acts 3:19, 1 John 1:9)
3. Believe that God loves you and Jesus died for you. "God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet Sinners, Christ died for us" (Romans 5:8)
4. Invite Jesus into your life through prayer of faith. Jesus says, "Behold, I stand at the door, and knock: if any man hear my voice, and open the door, I will come in to him, and will sup with him, and he with me" (Revelation 3:20)
