DCLM Higher Everyday  12 August 2023 Devotional by Pastor W. F. Kumuyi — Faithful Servant Rewarded

Topic: Faithful Servant Rewarded

Text: Deuteronomy 34:5-12

5So Moses the servant of the LORD died there in the land of Moab, according to the word of the LORD.

6And he buried him in a valley in the land of Moab, over against Bethpeor: but no man knoweth of his sepulchre unto this day.

7And Moses was an hundred and twenty years old when he died: his eye was not dim, nor his natural force abated.

8And the children of Israel wept for Moses in the plains of Moab thirty days: so the days of weeping and mourning for Moses were ended.

9And Joshua the son of Nun was full of the spirit of wisdom; for Moses had laid his hands upon him: and the children of Israel hearkened unto him, and did as the LORD commanded Moses.

10And there arose not a prophet since in Israel like unto Moses, whom the LORD knew face to face,

11In all the signs and the wonders, which the LORD sent him to do in the land of Egypt to Pharaoh, and to all his servants, and to all his land,

12And in all that mighty hand, and in all the great terror which Moses shewed in the sight of all Israel.

Key Verse: “And Joshua the son of Nun was full of the spirit of wisdom; for Moses had laid his hands upon him: and the children of Israel hearkened unto him, and did as the LORD commanded Moses” (Deuteronomy 34:9).

Message

James Dobson stated, “It isn’t important that I be remembered. It’s important that when I stand before the Lord, he says, ‘Well done, good and faithful servant.’ I want to finish strong.” Under the leadership of Moses, Joshua discharged his duties so faithfully that Moses “laid his hands upon him” and God filled him with His Spirit of wisdom. Consequently, when he assumed the mantle of leadership after Moses, he prospered in ministry. His leadership was so unique that the people of Israel were obedient to him.

Dear Christian friend, the leaders of tomorrow in any field begin preparation today as diligent and faithful servants. That was the secret ingredient in the success story of Joseph, Joshua and Samuel. They all shone in character, learning and diligence, as they rendered their services. You can also serve in any department in your school or Church. Identifying our specific ministry on conversion is important; more important, however, is our ability to stay humble and faithful that we may be appropriately rewarded at the end. You can become another Joshua if you wish.

Challenge: Fulfill your ministry faithfully.

Prayer for today: Keep me focused and faithful, Oh Lord.

GOSPEL REALM: STEPS TO SALVATION
1. Admit that you are a sinner. "For all [humans] have sinned, and comes short of the glory of God....[and] the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord" (Romans 3:23)
2. Repent now. "Repent ye therefore, and be converted, that your sins may be blotted out ...[for] if we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness " (Acts 3:19, 1 John 1:9)
3. Believe that God loves you and Jesus died for you. "God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet Sinners, Christ died for us" (Romans 5:8)
4. Invite Jesus into your life through prayer of faith. Jesus says, "Behold, I stand at the door, and knock: if any man hear my voice, and open the door, I will come in to him, and will sup with him, and he with me" (Revelation 3:20)
