DCLM Higher Everyday 20 April 2026 — Ask God For Wisdom
Topic: Ask God For Wisdom
Bible Reading: James 1:5-8 (KJV)
5If any of you lack wisdom, let him ask of God, that giveth to all men liberally, and upbraideth not; and it shall be given him.
7For let not that man think that he shall receive any thing of the Lord.
8A double minded man is unstable in all his ways.
In our journey through life, the call to seek wisdom is one that resonates deeply within our hearts. Our memory verse from James 1:5, states, “If any of you lack wisdom, let him ask of God, that giveth to all men liberally, and upbraideth not; and it shall be given him.” This profound promise assures us that God is willing to bestow wisdom upon those who earnestly seek it. The wisdom we seek is not merely the accumulation of knowledge or intelligence; it transcends human understanding. It is a divine, spiritual wisdom that aligns with God’s will. As we reflect on the nature of this wisdom, we recognize it is characterised by purity, peace, gentleness, and a willingness to yield (James 3:17).
This wisdom is essential for navigating the complexities of life, making decisions that glorify God, and fostering healthy relationships. We must not rely solely on our understanding or experiences but should continuously seek the wisdom that comes from God. Let us make it a priority to ask God for wisdom, trusting in His promise to give it abundantly.
PRAYER FOR TODAY
Lord Jesus, I need Your divine wisdom in my life.
CHALLENGE
With God’s wisdom, we can overcome life’s complexities
1. Admit that you are a sinner. "For all [humans] have sinned, and comes short of the glory of God....[and] the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord" (Romans 3:23)
2. Repent now. "Repent ye therefore, and be converted, that your sins may be blotted out ...[for] if we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness " (Acts 3:19, 1 John 1:9)
3. Believe that God loves you and Jesus died for you. "God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet Sinners, Christ died for us" (Romans 5:8)
4. Invite Jesus into your life through prayer of faith. Jesus says, "Behold, I stand at the door, and knock: if any man hear my voice, and open the door, I will come in to him, and will sup with him, and he with me" (Revelation 3:20)
