DCLM Sincere Milk 20 June 2026 — The Cleansed Lepers
DCLM Sincere Milk 20 June 2026 Devotional by Pastor W. F. Kumuyi — The Cleansed Lepers
Topic: The Cleansed Lepers
Bible Reading: Luke 17:12-18 (KJV)
12And as he entered into a certain village, there met him ten men that were lepers, which stood afar off:
13And they lifted up their voices, and said, Jesus, Master, have mercy on us.
14And when he saw them, he said unto them, Go shew yourselves unto the priests. And it came to pass, that, as they went, they were cleansed.
15And one of them, when he saw that he was healed, turned back, and with a loud voice glorified God,
16And fell down on his face at his feet, giving him thanks: and he was a Samaritan.
17And Jesus answering said, Were there not ten cleansed? but where are the nine?
18There are not found that returned to give glory to God, save this stranger.
The story of the ten Lepers in our text is very important for us to understand the meaning of gratitude.
These men were lepers and known by all the people in the community. In those days, lepers were separated from others so that they will not contaminate them. Fortunately for these ten lepers, they met Jesus one faithful day. Seeing Jesus passing by, they lifted up their voices and said: “Jesus, Master, have mercy on us”. The response of Jesus was a unique one. He did not lay hands on, nor pray for them, but rather said they should go and show themselves to the priest. They obeyed, and as they went, they were cleansed. Unfortunately, only one of them came back to give thanks to Christ.
Obedience is very important if you want to get healing or blessing from God. Just the simple obedience of the lepers led to their total healing. If you are the type that complains, murmurs and refuses to yield to instruction, you will definitely not be blessed by God. Do not argue with your parents when given instruction, do not argue with God also so that you will be blessed. Also learn to show gratitude to God and to others for the good things done to you. Do not be like the nine lepers that did not return glory to God. Have an attitude of gratitude.
PRAYER FOR TODAY
Father, give me an obedient heart and a life of gratitude.
FURTHER READING
Luke 4:25-27
1. Admit that you are a sinner. "For all [humans] have sinned, and comes short of the glory of God....[and] the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord" (Romans 3:23)
2. Repent now. "Repent ye therefore, and be converted, that your sins may be blotted out ...[for] if we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness " (Acts 3:19, 1 John 1:9)
3. Believe that God loves you and Jesus died for you. "God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet Sinners, Christ died for us" (Romans 5:8)
4. Invite Jesus into your life through prayer of faith. Jesus says, "Behold, I stand at the door, and knock: if any man hear my voice, and open the door, I will come in to him, and will sup with him, and he with me" (Revelation 3:20)
