TOPIC: NO TO TATTOOS!
TEXT: LEVITICUS 19:27-31
27 Ye shall not round the corners of your heads, neither shalt thou mar the corners of thy beard.
28 Ye shall not make any cuttings in your flesh for the dead, nor print any marks upon you: I am the LORD.
29 Do not prostitute thy daughter, to cause her to be a whore; lest the land fall to whoredom, and the land become full of wickedness.
30 Ye shall keep my sabbaths, and reverence my sanctuary: I am the LORD.
Key Verse: “Ye shall not make any cuttings in your flesh for the dead, nor print any marks upon you: I am the LORD” (Leviticus 19:28).
MESSAGE:
A friend of Jesus must not copy or follow the ways of life of the world; otherwise, he may be going contrary to God’s commands and instructions unknowingly.

In the Old Testament, God warned His children against some practices of the ungodly nations. They usually make cuttings on their bodies for the dead, print marks and designs on their bodies and around the corners of their head. These are done for the dead. Some also practice witchcraft. All these practices are abominations before the Lord.
One of the commonest of these bad practices in modern times is tattooing. According to the dictionary, tattoo means to “mark a part of the body with an indelible design by inserting pigment into punctures in the skin”.
Some years back, tattoos were done only by illiterate villagers either as fashion or as tradition. Today, many people – artists, musicians, students, actors, celebrities and so on now have tattoos on their bodies.
Are tattoos acceptable to God? No! The word of God forbids it and He will punish all who do such. Do not follow the multitude to do evil.
Prayer: Blessed Father, help me not to follow the evil practices of the world.

1. Admit that you are a sinner. "For all [humans] have sinned, and comes short of the glory of God....[and] the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord" (Romans 3:23)
2. Repent now. "Repent ye therefore, and be converted, that your sins may be blotted out ...[for] if we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness " (Acts 3:19, 1 John 1:9)
3. Believe that God loves you and Jesus died for you. "God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet Sinners, Christ died for us" (Romans 5:8)
4. Invite Jesus into your life through prayer of faith. Jesus says, "Behold, I stand at the door, and knock: if any man hear my voice, and open the door, I will come in to him, and will sup with him, and he with me" (Revelation 3:20)
