TOPIC: A WONDER TO THE WORLD

TEXT: PSALM 71:5-8

5 For thou art my hope, O Lord GOD: thou art my trust from my youth.

6 By thee have I been holden up from the womb: thou art he that took me out of my mother’s bowels: my praise shall be continually of thee.

7 I am as a wonder unto many; but thou art my strong refuge.

8 Let my mouth be filled with thy praise and with thy honour all the day.

MEMORY VERSE: “I am as a wonder unto many; but thou art my strong refuge” (PSALM 71:7).

One of the 7 wonders of the world is the Great Wall of China believed to be about 5,500 miles long. The construction began in the 7th century BCE and lasted for two millennia to complete.

MESSAGE

A visit to China without a sight-seeing of the baffling world heritage architectural monument makes it an inconclusive journey. David also lived a large life and became a wonder.

King David took time to ruminate over the marvelous things God did for him from his mother’s womb to adulthood. God strengthened him to overcome Goliath. He preserved his life from ferocious beasts in the wilderness. He delivered him from all his enemies.

He picked him as a youth from following flocks in the wilderness to become the king of Israel. Indeed, David was a wonder as a war veteran, prophet-king, shepherd-king, sweet psalmist, and a man after God’s heart.

My young friend, your actions and achievements will also make you a wonder. Walk with God, daily meditate on His word, work hard at your studies and chosen career, and you too will become a wonder.

QUOTE: David was a wonder as a war veteran.

CHALLENGE: Work hard; you will become a wonder.

PRAYER: Lord, make me a wonder to the world.

GOSPEL REALM: STEPS TO SALVATION
1. Admit that you are a sinner. "For all [humans] have sinned, and comes short of the glory of God....[and] the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord" (Romans 3:23)
2. Repent now. "Repent ye therefore, and be converted, that your sins may be blotted out ...[for] if we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness " (Acts 3:19, 1 John 1:9)
3. Believe that God loves you and Jesus died for you. "God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet Sinners, Christ died for us" (Romans 5:8)
4. Invite Jesus into your life through prayer of faith. Jesus says, "Behold, I stand at the door, and knock: if any man hear my voice, and open the door, I will come in to him, and will sup with him, and he with me" (Revelation 3:20)
