DCLM Higher Everyday 5 October 2023 — He Began A Good Thing In Me

DCLM Higher Everyday  5 October 2023 Devotional by Pastor W. F. Kumuyi — He Began A Good Thing In Me

Topic: He Began A Good Thing In Me

Text: Philippians 1:6-10

6Being confident of this very thing, that he which hath begun a good work in you will perform it until the day of Jesus Christ:

7Even as it is meet for me to think this of you all, because I have you in my heart; inasmuch as both in my bonds, and in the defence and confirmation of the gospel, ye all are partakers of my grace.

8For God is my record, how greatly I long after you all in the bowels of Jesus Christ.

9And this I pray, that your love may abound yet more and more in knowledge and in all judgment;

10That ye may approve things that are excellent; that ye may be sincere and without offence till the day of Christ;

Key Verse:“Being confident of this very thing, that he which hath begun a good work in you will perform it until the day of Jesus Christ” (Philippians 1:6).

Message

God has good plans for His children. He wants us to have the fullness of all blessings – spiritual, physical, financial and academic. Spiritually God wants His children to grow from grace to grace.  Kent R. Hunter wrote, “Churches do not grow unless Christian people grow; Christian people grow when they are in the Word of God.” The Philippians in our text were born again. But Paul would not only want them to endure in the faith but to have other Christian experiences. Moreover, he prayed that their love would abound in knowledge and judgment. His desire for them was pure love controlled by God’s Word among them and not by carnal or satanic ideas. They were to walk by things excellent, sincere, and without offence as fruits of their being filled with righteousness.

Dear friend, don’t be satisfied with your present spiritual state but grow in Christian conduct and character. This will help you to prepare for heaven. So, strive to possess all that God has for you by attending Christian fellowships, praying, reading the Bible daily and meditating on it.

Quote: Have the fullness of blessings

Challenge: Be a combination of spiritual and academic excellence.

Prayer for today: Oh God, lift me from where I am to where I should be.

GOSPEL REALM: STEPS TO SALVATION
1. Admit that you are a sinner. "For all [humans] have sinned, and comes short of the glory of God....[and] the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord" (Romans 3:23)
2. Repent now. "Repent ye therefore, and be converted, that your sins may be blotted out ...[for] if we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness " (Acts 3:19, 1 John 1:9)
3. Believe that God loves you and Jesus died for you. "God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet Sinners, Christ died for us" (Romans 5:8)
4. Invite Jesus into your life through prayer of faith. Jesus says, "Behold, I stand at the door, and knock: if any man hear my voice, and open the door, I will come in to him, and will sup with him, and he with me" (Revelation 3:20)
