MESSAGE:

The New Year is ushering in hundreds of thousands of children into the world today. According to the United Nations, the globe welcomes about 360,000 new inhabitants every day. Coming in at the behest of their Creator, this vast army of infants joins many more millions of older souls to complete the picture of the splendid work and orderliness of divinity dating back to when it all began on creation day.

The prehistory rendition of the birth of heaven and earth is the Bible’s irrefutable record of the starting point of life on earth. The narrative has not only fascinated earthlings but also led to priceless lessons about man’s journey through life. The legendary words, “In the beginning”, teach primarily that our God commenced a project, which became an irreversible move that has continued to benefit man over the ages.

So, as we begin a new year today, the same way some millions of newborns would be making it into a new world, we must remember that God sets the pace for new beginnings. After these opening stages, He went on to bring shape and comeliness into the planet. Vacuity and formlessness vanished. Desolation disappeared. Life sprang up. On land and sea and in the air, nature sang songs to celebrate the great God who brought them into being as His “Spirit… moved upon the face of the waters.”

For those who have accepted God’s plan of salvation through faith in His Son Jesus Christ, marching into the New Year is a walk with the Spirit of God who can tide us over whatever the year holds in store. The follower of Christ starts the first day of the year with his Lord and stays with Him every moment all year-round and all his life. The sinners are not left out. They can be part of the big throng of the blessed if they repent of their breach of heaven’s laws.

Thought For The Day: Begin the new year with Emmanuel!

GOSPEL REALM: STEPS TO SALVATION
1. Admit that you are a sinner. "For all [humans] have sinned, and comes short of the glory of God....[and] the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord" (Romans 3:23)
2. Repent now. "Repent ye therefore, and be converted, that your sins may be blotted out ...[for] if we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness " (Acts 3:19, 1 John 1:9)
3. Believe that God loves you and Jesus died for you. "God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet Sinners, Christ died for us" (Romans 5:8)
4. Invite Jesus into your life through prayer of faith. Jesus says, "Behold, I stand at the door, and knock: if any man hear my voice, and open the door, I will come in to him, and will sup with him, and he with me" (Revelation 3:20)
