DCLM HIGHER EVERYDAY 10 NOVEMBER 2021 — THE OVERCOMERS

DCLM Higher Everyday 8 November 2021 Devotional by Pastor W. F. Kumuyi — The Overcomers

BIBLE TEXT: REVELATION 2:26-29

26 And he that overcometh, and keepeth my works unto the end, to him will I give power over the nations:

27 And he shall rule them with a rod of iron; as the vessels of a potter shall they be broken to shivers: even as I received of my Father.

28 And I will give him the morning star.

29 He that hath an ear, let him hear what the Spirit saith unto the churches.

MEMORY VERSE: “And when the chief Shepherd shall appear, ye shall receive a crown of glory that fadeth not away” (1 PETER 5:4).

MESSAGE:

The Olympic Games tournament holds in every four years. A good number of nations prepare their teams for various competitive games, spending millions of dollars. The players too put in their best in practice, and abstain from certain diets and pleasures to keep fit. All these are done to increase their hopes of emerging as winners in the contest. Eventually, the teams that win gather together to receive their laurels with pomp and fanfare. Christian youths should learn very important lessons from this. If the world can prepare so much for ephemeral competitions, you need to prepare much more for eternity.

The Lord will reward overcomers and they will reign with Him forever. The overcomers are the believers that resist sin, Satan and the world to the end like Apostle Paul. They are sons and daughters of God who are “…denying ungodliness and worldly lusts, (and living) soberly, righteously, and godly, in this present world”. The journey to overcoming begins with salvation in Christ. You need to adequately prepare to meet the Lord as we are gradually moving towards the end.

QUOTE: They will reign with Him forever.

CHALLENGE: The overcomer daily lives above sin.

PRAYER: Lord, give me grace to overcome daily.

GOSPEL REALM: STEPS TO SALVATION
1. Admit that you are a sinner. "For all [humans] have sinned, and comes short of the glory of God....[and] the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord" (Romans 3:23)
2. Repent now. "Repent ye therefore, and be converted, that your sins may be blotted out ...[for] if we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness " (Acts 3:19, 1 John 1:9)
3. Believe that God loves you and Jesus died for you. "God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet Sinners, Christ died for us" (Romans 5:8)
4. Invite Jesus into your life through prayer of faith. Jesus says, "Behold, I stand at the door, and knock: if any man hear my voice, and open the door, I will come in to him, and will sup with him, and he with me" (Revelation 3:20)
