DCLM Sincere Milk 24 NOVEMBER 2021 — I Want to Grow

TOPIC: “I WANT TO GROW”

TEXT: 1 PETER 2:1-5

1 Wherefore laying aside all malice, and all guile, and hypocrisies, and envies, and all evil speakings,

2 As newborn babes, desire the sincere milk of the word, that ye may grow thereby:

3 If so be ye have tasted that the Lord is gracious.

4 To whom coming, as unto a living stone, disallowed indeed of men, but chosen of God, and precious,

5 Ye also, as lively stones, are built up a spiritual house, an holy priesthood, to offer up spiritual sacrifices, acceptable to God by Jesus Christ.

Key Verse: “As newborn babes, desire the sincere milk of the word, that ye may grow thereby” (1 Peter 2:2).

MESSAGE:

Maureen desires to grow well and be strong, but she does not like to eat. She cries and frowns when it is time to eat. She would say “Mommy, you always tell me that you love me. If you really love me, don’t give me food.” Is this not funny?

There are many things one can help another person to do, like sweeping and mopping the floor, etc. However, it is not possible to eat for another person because the food goes into the stomach of whoever eats it. To grow and be healthy, everybody must eat the right food.

The same way we eat food to grow physically and be healthy, so must friends of Jesus desire and feed on God’s word to grow and have strength to overcome temptations and please God.

Those who want to grow, do not wait till they get to church before reading the Bible. Such children read the Bible because they love God and not just to please their parents.

We read and study God’s word because we love God and want to know more about Him. As you read God’s word, think on it, obey it and share it with others.

Prayer: Lord, help me to always read, meditate on and obey Your word every day.

GOSPEL REALM: STEPS TO SALVATION
1. Admit that you are a sinner. "For all [humans] have sinned, and comes short of the glory of God....[and] the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord" (Romans 3:23)
2. Repent now. "Repent ye therefore, and be converted, that your sins may be blotted out ...[for] if we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness " (Acts 3:19, 1 John 1:9)
3. Believe that God loves you and Jesus died for you. "God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet Sinners, Christ died for us" (Romans 5:8)
4. Invite Jesus into your life through prayer of faith. Jesus says, "Behold, I stand at the door, and knock: if any man hear my voice, and open the door, I will come in to him, and will sup with him, and he with me" (Revelation 3:20)
