28And a curse, if ye will not obey the commandments of the LORD your God, but turn aside out of the way which I command you this day, to go after other gods, which ye have not known.

Key Verse: “Behold, I set before you this day a blessing and a curse; A blessing, if ye obey the commandments of the LORD your God, which I command you this day”(Deuteronomy 11:26,27)

Message

According to John L. Mason, “A fruitful life is not the result of chance. It is the result of right choices.” Therefore, making a good choice in any situation in life depends largely on the individual and hence the need to seek counselling from knowledgeable God-fearing people before any choice is made. Biblical figures like Joseph and Moses made right choices in Egypt and God blessed them. So did Ruth in relocating to Bethlehem-Judah with Naomi.

The text today shows the eternal counsel of God to mankind. It presents the two alternatives on earth to man, blessing and curse, life and death, heaven and hell, and compassionately counsels him to choose blessing. Apostle Peter counselled the sinful ones in his days: “Repent ye therefore, and be converted, that your sins may be blotted out, when the times of refreshing shall come from the presence of the Lord” (Acts 3:19). If you are living in sin, make haste and make the best choice now. Repent of your sins. Your choice will determine your destiny.

Quote: Your choice will determine your destiny

Challenge: Decision determines destiny.

Prayer for today: Guide me to make right choices, Lord

GOSPEL REALM: STEPS TO SALVATION
1. Admit that you are a sinner. "For all [humans] have sinned, and comes short of the glory of God....[and] the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord" (Romans 3:23)
2. Repent now. "Repent ye therefore, and be converted, that your sins may be blotted out ...[for] if we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness " (Acts 3:19, 1 John 1:9)
3. Believe that God loves you and Jesus died for you. "God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet Sinners, Christ died for us" (Romans 5:8)
4. Invite Jesus into your life through prayer of faith. Jesus says, "Behold, I stand at the door, and knock: if any man hear my voice, and open the door, I will come in to him, and will sup with him, and he with me" (Revelation 3:20)
