DCLM Sincere Milk  7 January 2024 Devotional by Pastor W. F. Kumuyi — Pray And Do Not Worry – Part 2

Topic: Pray And Do Not Worry – Part 2

Text: Philippians 4:4-7

4Rejoice in the Lord alway: and again I say, Rejoice.

5Let your moderation be known unto all men. The Lord is at hand.

6Be careful for nothing; but in every thing by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known unto God.

7And the peace of God, which passeth all understanding, shall keep your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.

Key Verse: “Be careful for nothing; but in every thing by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known unto God.” Philippians 4:6

Message

The Lord has commanded us not to worry. God knows everything and sees everything that happens to us. He has the power to turn every situation around for our good. We need to recognize God’s powerful hand in our daily problems and stop worrying over anything. Once you have prayed to God over any issue, let God handle it and do not worry.
When we worry, we talk to ourselves. When we pray, we talk to God. We focus on our circumstances when we worry, but we focus on God when we pray. When we pray, handover the problem to God, thank Him and stop worrying, then the peace of God fills our hearts and life.

In every situation that comes our way therefore, we are not to worry but pray, bring our needs to God, thank Him because He is able to take over the problem and the peace of God will fill our hearts. It is only children of God that can pray and have the peace we are talking about. If you are not a friend of Jesus yet, confess your sins to Jesus, repent and accept Jesus into your heart. Then you can pray and have the peace of God.

GOSPEL REALM: STEPS TO SALVATION
1. Admit that you are a sinner. "For all [humans] have sinned, and comes short of the glory of God....[and] the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord" (Romans 3:23)
2. Repent now. "Repent ye therefore, and be converted, that your sins may be blotted out ...[for] if we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness " (Acts 3:19, 1 John 1:9)
3. Believe that God loves you and Jesus died for you. "God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet Sinners, Christ died for us" (Romans 5:8)
4. Invite Jesus into your life through prayer of faith. Jesus says, "Behold, I stand at the door, and knock: if any man hear my voice, and open the door, I will come in to him, and will sup with him, and he with me" (Revelation 3:20)
