TOPIC: QUITTING YOUR QUIET TIME?

TEXT: MARK 1:35-39

35 And in the morning, rising up a great while before day, he went out, and departed into a solitary place, and there prayed.

36 And Simon and they that were with him followed after him.

37 And when they had found him, they said unto him, All men seek for thee.

38 And he said unto them, Let us go into the next towns, that I may preach there also: for therefore came I forth.

39 And he preached in their synagogues throughout all Galilee, and cast out devils.

MEMORY VERSE: “And in the morning, rising up a great while before day, he went out, and departed into a solitary place, and there prayed” (MARK 1:35).

MESSAGE

Quiet Time is the time you spend alone with God to read His Word, share your heart with Him, and worship Him. It is a time of spiritual refreshment so that you can be filled with grace and strength to do all you have to do in your daily life. It keeps you healthy spiritually, emotionally and physically.

Quiet time is for your benefit, not God’s. Although God longs to be with you, you are the one who will ultimately benefit from His presence during your quiet time. Many youths and students miss their quiet time. And one of the commonest reasons for this is lack of time or too much activities lined up for the day.

That was not the way of Christ. Despite His tight schedule and need to visit many towns and villages to preach the gospel and perform miracles, He gave quality time for personal devotion. He derived His strength from His time alone with God.That should be your practice. If you want to be fruitful and useful, don’t quit your quiet time.

QUOTE: Don’t quit your quiet time.

CHALLENGE: The quiet time is for your benefit.

PRAYER: Lord, ignite the passion for quiet time in my life.

GOSPEL REALM: STEPS TO SALVATION
1. Admit that you are a sinner. "For all [humans] have sinned, and comes short of the glory of God....[and] the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord" (Romans 3:23)
2. Repent now. "Repent ye therefore, and be converted, that your sins may be blotted out ...[for] if we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness " (Acts 3:19, 1 John 1:9)
3. Believe that God loves you and Jesus died for you. "God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet Sinners, Christ died for us" (Romans 5:8)
4. Invite Jesus into your life through prayer of faith. Jesus says, "Behold, I stand at the door, and knock: if any man hear my voice, and open the door, I will come in to him, and will sup with him, and he with me" (Revelation 3:20)
