Bible Reading: Psalm 91:1-7 (KJV)
1He that dwelleth in the secret place of the most High shall abide under the shadow of the Almighty.
2I will say of the LORD, He is my refuge and my fortress: my God; in him will I trust.
3Surely he shall deliver thee from the snare of the fowler, and from the noisome pestilence.
4He shall cover thee with his feathers, and under his wings shalt thou trust: his truth shall be thy shield and buckler.
5Thou shalt not be afraid for the terror by night; nor for the arrow that flieth by day;
6Nor for the pestilence that walketh in darkness; nor for the destruction that wasteth at noonday.
7A thousand shall fall at thy side, and ten thousand at thy right hand; but it shall not come nigh thee.

Message
Jane was on her way from school one afternoon. Suddenly, she noticed that she was being followed by a middle-aged man whose face was strange in the environment. Initially, she wasn’t too bothered but when she tried to double up her pace, she noticed the man did the same, that was when she took to her heels. She ran very fast and hid behind one of the big rocks in the area. The man tried frantically to look for her but had to give up when he couldn’t find a trace of Jane. Finally out of danger, she ran home and narrated her experience to her mother.
The secret place refers to a place of refuge, safety and intimacy with God. It is not usually a physical location but a spiritual state where genuine seekers can experience guidance and wisdom, seek refuge in God’s presence and enjoy His peace and joy.
God is a Spirit and those who worship Him must do so in spirit and in truth. As friends of Jesus come to Him in the place of prayer and meditation on the word of God, they will realise that the name of the Lord is a strong tower where His children can run to and be safe. No matter the challenge, God keeps and preserves those who call on Him in the place of prayer.
PRAYER FOR TODAY
Lord, please help me to be closer to You in the secret place of prayer.
