DCLM Higher Everyday 26 October 2026 — Unshakable Foundation
Topic: Unshakable Foundation
Bible Reading: Luke 6:45-49 (KJV)
45A good man out of the good treasure of his heart bringeth forth that which is good; and an evil man out of the evil treasure of his heart bringeth forth that which is evil: for of the abundance of the heart his mouth speaketh.
46And why call ye me, Lord, Lord, and do not the things which I say?
48He is like a man which built an house, and digged deep, and laid the foundation on a rock: and when the flood arose, the stream beat vehemently upon that house, and could not shake it: for it was founded upon a rock.
49But he that heareth, and doeth not, is like a man that without a foundation built an house upon the earth; against which the stream did beat vehemently, and immediately it fell; and the ruin of that house was great.
KEY VERSE: “He is like a man which built an house, and digged deep, and laid the foundation on a rock: and when the flood arose, the stream beat vehemently upon that house, and could not shake it: for it was founded upon a rock” (Luke 6:48).
Message
A building foundation is the lowest part of the structure, typically situated below the ground, and supports the weight of the building. One of the major causes of building collapse is a weak foundation. This can occur when the correct mixture of concrete materials is not used and when the foundation is repeatedly exposed to harsh weather conditions, or due to soil subsidence (the sudden or gradual sinking of the land).
The tragic collapse of the Champlain Towers South in Surfside, Florida, in 2021, which resulted in the loss of 98 lives, serves as a painful reminder of the damage that faulty structural and foundation issues can cause. Everyone at birth is formed on a foundation of sin. (Romans 3:23). Deliverance comes through a genuine salvation experience in Christ Jesus. Sinful acts destroy God’s plan to build life positively and can ultimately lead to eternal separation from God. What a tragic end! However, you can choose Christ, the Solid Rock. Daily study of His word and fellowship with genuine believers will strengthen you against the temptations and trials of life.
Lord Jesus, be the Foundation of my life.
What foundation is your life standing on?
1. Admit that you are a sinner. "For all [humans] have sinned, and comes short of the glory of God....[and] the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord" (Romans 3:23)
2. Repent now. "Repent ye therefore, and be converted, that your sins may be blotted out ...[for] if we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness " (Acts 3:19, 1 John 1:9)
3. Believe that God loves you and Jesus died for you. "God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet Sinners, Christ died for us" (Romans 5:8)
4. Invite Jesus into your life through prayer of faith. Jesus says, "Behold, I stand at the door, and knock: if any man hear my voice, and open the door, I will come in to him, and will sup with him, and he with me" (Revelation 3:20)
