DCLM Higher Everyday 27 August 2023 — You Will Rise Again
DCLM Higher Everyday 27 August 2023 Devotional by Pastor W. F. Kumuyi — You Will Rise Again
Topic: You Will Rise Again
Text: Micah 7:8-11
9I will bear the indignation of the LORD, because I have sinned against him, until he plead my cause, and execute judgment for me: he will bring me forth to the light, and I shall behold his righteousness.
10Then she that is mine enemy shall see it, and shame shall cover her which said unto me, Where is the LORD thy God? mine eyes shall behold her: now shall she be trodden down as the mire of the streets.
11In the day that thy walls are to be built, in that day shall the decree be far removed.
Key Verse: “Rejoice not against me, O mine enemy: when I fall, I shall arise; when I sit in darkness, the LORD shall be a light unto me” (Micah 7:8).
Message
The Bible is replete with accounts of men and women who recovered almost everything they lost and were blessed again because they depended on the Almighty God. Such Bible characters include people like Job, Ruth, and David. Most men are tempted to give up in anguish when clouds of despair, failure, defeat and temptation come their way. They turn their thought and focus away from divine help, favour and mercy.
In our text, Prophet Micah gave a message of hope and possibility of rising again after a fall. Job proved beyond any shadow of doubt that with God, there is no permanent failure. Despite all the discouragements from his wife and friends, Job remained steadfast, looking unto God. The youth that has fallen must have the desire to rise again and succeed. Desire coupled with action depends on the individual and it must agree with the plan of God. Sometimes the challenges that come our way are mere tests. Since adversity will come to us all, we must rely on Christ and be patient for Him to carry us through.
Quote: With God, there is no permanent failure
Challenge: Patiently wait for the plan of God.
Prayer for today: Lord help me to rise again when I fall.
1. Admit that you are a sinner. "For all [humans] have sinned, and comes short of the glory of God....[and] the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord" (Romans 3:23)
2. Repent now. "Repent ye therefore, and be converted, that your sins may be blotted out ...[for] if we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness " (Acts 3:19, 1 John 1:9)
3. Believe that God loves you and Jesus died for you. "God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet Sinners, Christ died for us" (Romans 5:8)
4. Invite Jesus into your life through prayer of faith. Jesus says, "Behold, I stand at the door, and knock: if any man hear my voice, and open the door, I will come in to him, and will sup with him, and he with me" (Revelation 3:20)
