DCLM Sincere Milk 14 NOVEMBER 2021 — Discover your Gifts
TOPIC: DISCOVER YOUR GIFTS
TEXT: ROMANS 12:3-8
3 For I say, through the grace given unto me, to every man that is among you, not to think of himself more highly than he ought to think; but to think soberly, according as God hath dealt to every man the measure of faith.
4 For as we have many members in one body, and all members have not the same office:
5 So we, being many, are one body in Christ, and every one members one of another.
6 Having then gifts differing according to the grace that is given to us, whether prophecy, let us prophesy according to the proportion of faith;
7 Or ministry, let us wait on our ministering: or he that teacheth, on teaching;
8 Or he that exhorteth, on exhortation: he that giveth, let him do it with simplicity; he that ruleth, with diligence; he that sheweth mercy, with cheerfulness.
Key Verse: “Or he that exhorteth, on exhortation: he that giveth, let him do it with simplicity; he that ruleth, with diligence; he that sheweth mercy, with cheerfulness”(Romans 12:8).
MESSAGE:
“Mary does it perfectly well all the time. She is gifted”, said Mercy. A gift is a special ability or talent possessed by somebody. Every born-again child of God is gifted. Every friend of Jesus has been given special ability to do what is good.
First, as new creatures, we have been given the ability to be like Christ Who went about doing good. The Bible says, “For it is God which worketh in you both to will and to do of his good pleasure” (Philippians 2:13). But you must discover your gifts and use it to bless the church of Christ.
Our text mentions several gifts available to believers in different measures. We may not all be equally gifted, but we are all gifted. We all have different ministries such as teaching, exhortation (encouraging others), giving, leadership qualities, showing mercy, caring, hospitality, etc.
It is now your duty to discover your own gift. You might have noticed that you love and enjoy helping and giving to others, or your heart is always moved to showing mercy and concern to others.
A story was told of a child whose mother gave out all the rice she cooked and had nothing left to eat. The child, seeing that there was nothing left for the mother to eat, started crying. What a caring child!
Do you love to give, show concern for others, show mercy, or know how to organize things and keep the fellowship together? Discover your gifts and use them to the glory of God, and to bless others.
Prayer: Lord, help me to discover my gifts and use them for Your glory.

1. Admit that you are a sinner. "For all [humans] have sinned, and comes short of the glory of God....[and] the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord" (Romans 3:23)
2. Repent now. "Repent ye therefore, and be converted, that your sins may be blotted out ...[for] if we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness " (Acts 3:19, 1 John 1:9)
3. Believe that God loves you and Jesus died for you. "God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet Sinners, Christ died for us" (Romans 5:8)
4. Invite Jesus into your life through prayer of faith. Jesus says, "Behold, I stand at the door, and knock: if any man hear my voice, and open the door, I will come in to him, and will sup with him, and he with me" (Revelation 3:20)
