DCLM Higher Everyday 11 May 2026 — Little Is Much

DCLM Higher Everyday  11 May 2026 Devotional by Pastor W. F. Kumuyi — Little Is Much

Topic: Little Is Much

Bible Reading: Psalm 37:16-20 (KJV)

16A little that a righteous man hath is better than the riches of many wicked.

17For the arms of the wicked shall be broken: but the LORD upholdeth the righteous.

18The LORD knoweth the days of the upright: and their inheritance shall be for ever.

19They shall not be ashamed in the evil time: and in the days of famine they shall be satisfied.

20But the wicked shall perish, and the enemies of the LORD shall be as the fat of lambs: they shall consume; into smoke shall they consume away.

MEMORY VERSE: “A little that a righteous man hath is better than the riches of many wicked” (Psalm 37:16).

Message

We live in a generation where there is undue emphasis on wealth acquisition without paying attention to the processes involved. Hence, young people are ready to hurt others and alter their destiny just to get fame. This accounts for the rate of increase in advance-fee fraud, ritual killings, kidnapping, rape and other heinous crimes with their attendant consequences here on earth and in eternity.

Our text is certainly not encouraging indolence, mediocrity or lack of lofty goals and purpose in life. Neither is it a motivation for greed, stinginess and lack of concern for the needs of others as that is the attitude of the wicked. But as believers, we are to graciously labour and sacrificially utilise our God given resources in a way that God would be glorified. Remember, Jesus said, “…A man’s life consisteth not in the abundance of the things which he possesseth” (Luke 12:15b). Contentment brings the joy and fulfilment that a believer desires in the little that he has. We must therefore use it to satisfy our needs and positively impact others.

PRAYER FOR TODAY

Dear Lord, set me free from greed.

CHALLENGE

Little is much when God is in it.

GOSPEL REALM: STEPS TO SALVATION
1. Admit that you are a sinner. "For all [humans] have sinned, and comes short of the glory of God....[and] the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord" (Romans 3:23)
2. Repent now. "Repent ye therefore, and be converted, that your sins may be blotted out ...[for] if we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness " (Acts 3:19, 1 John 1:9)
3. Believe that God loves you and Jesus died for you. "God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet Sinners, Christ died for us" (Romans 5:8)
4. Invite Jesus into your life through prayer of faith. Jesus says, "Behold, I stand at the door, and knock: if any man hear my voice, and open the door, I will come in to him, and will sup with him, and he with me" (Revelation 3:20)
